Rate: $15.00/hour – starting rate based on prior experience and education
Location: Concord Woods Nature Park, Concord Twp., OH 44077
Position Description:
Under direction of the Natural Resource Manager, the Natural Resource Technician assists the Park District in managing, assessing, and inventorying natural resources and natural areas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operates equipment and machinery necessary to implement natural resource management practices, such as, brush cutters, mowing equipment, and off-road vehicles.
Assists the Natural Resource Manager with invasive species control, tree planting/removal, various vegetation control, and habitat maintenance assignments.
Assists Natural Resources Department in various park improvement and maintenance projects.
Utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) hardware and software to collect, manage, analyze and edit spatial data.
Minimum Qualifications:
Prior education or experience in a Natural Resource field such as biology, conservation, natural resource management, or wildlife management preferred.
Prior experience in operating tractors and towing/hauling equipment preferred.
Position Requirements:
Ability to mix and apply herbicides in a safe manner.
Basic skills in flora, fauna, and invasive plant species identification.
Demonstrated initiative and organizational skills.
Proficiency in computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
Variable work schedule, up to 40 hours per week.
May be occasionally required to work flexible hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.
Must possess a valid drivers’ license and insurable on the Agency’s liability policy. Background check required.
