Social Media & Marketing Coordinator – Full-Time (Exempt)
RatePay Grade: E – $22.0870 hour/$45,941 annual to $34.7084 hour/$72,194 annual – minimum starting salary based on prior experience and education
Location: Concord Woods Nature Park, Concord Twp., OH 44077
Position Description: 
Under the direction of the Chief of Marketing, the Social Media & Marketing Coordinator manages a comprehensive social media and marketing plan to help attract and retain visitors and enhance the user experience. Works with employees, media, community contacts and others to advance the visibility and mission of Lake Metroparks and disseminates pertinent information, updates, and news regarding the agency’s history, stories, programs (including park improvements and natural resource projects), events and general information.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinates the park district’s social media efforts and shares mission-oriented messages to increase awareness and appreciation of the agency with constituents.
  • Develops social media campaigns for events, programs and projects. Implements strategies to increase followers and engagement. Researches, drafts, fact-checks, obtains photo releases and schedules posts; responds promptly and accurately to comments, questions and direct messages. Remains current on industry best practices and uses data and analytics to measure, adjust and improve overall social media performance. Employee is required to assist with social media monitoring after hours, seasonally and in crisis situations.
  • Collaborates extensively with employees in all departments to garner unique story ideas that communicate a variety of concepts and the mission of the agency. Manages project editorial calendars.
  • Writes compelling media releases and provides content for Lake Metroparks publications (electronic and print).
  • Together with the Chief of Marketing, develops and executes effective and data-driven advertising strategy, which may include print, digital, radio and outdoor advertising. Manages advertising purchases and placement and conducts evaluation metrics.
  • When directed by the Chief of Marketing, executes effective media pitches and responses to generate positive media coverage about the park district. Maximizes promotional (unpaid) media opportunities (print, radio, web and television); may arrange media interviews, photo opportunities and television opportunities.
  • Develops theme and materials for off-site displays at community events. Provides staffing and materials/activities; set up and tear down.
  • Shoots digital photography for print publications, social media, web and special projects. Oversees management of the park district’s image library and volunteer photographers. Manages photo releases and licenses.
  • Drafts and manages budget items and monitors expenses. Obtains quotes and develops project specifications, completes purchase orders and processes invoices.
  • Along with other marketing staff, establishes and maintains relationships with local businesses, chambers and professional groups to promote Lake Metroparks, its mission, projects, facilities and programs and fosters partnership opportunities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field required.
  • Experience using Sprout Social preferred.
Position Requirements: 
  • Knowledge of journalistic techniques and AP style.
  • Knowledge of digital photography and photo editing.
  • Must be able to proofread text for spelling, grammar and overall accuracy to ensure integrity of materials. Attention to detail is critically important.
  • Must be an excellent communicator with outstanding verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Must demonstrate creativity and innovation. Maintain a working knowledge of marketing and public relations principles and trends as they pertain to the position.
  • Must show initiative to try/learn new things. Must keep skills up-to-date and propose new, creative ideas.
  • Must have planning and organizational skills and the ability to determine project workflow priorities and manage multiple assignments and responsibilities simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines with minimal supervision. Ability to adapt to changes, reorganize priorities when necessary and manage project details.
  • Must have a strong sense of responsibility and accountability and excellent work ethic.
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, flexible, creative, able to perform with poise under pressure and to deliver strong and measurable results.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to identify problems and generate workable solutions.
  • Must be comfortable speaking in public in front of small and large groups.
  • Ability to manage social media accounts and social media management software.
  • Ability to utilize and embrace technology.
  • Ability to recognize and solve problems and to think creatively and “outside the box.”
  • Ability to work in a team setting to accomplish park-related goals.
  • Ability to relate to and work with all types of people with tact/diplomacy.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work in PC environments.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Often required to work flexible hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license and insurable on the Agency’s liability policy. Background check required.
