Essential Functions

  • Performs daily cleaning, sanitizing and stocking of public restrooms and common areas. To include but not limited to;
  • Auditoriums
  • Recreation
  • Campground
  • Golf Course
  • Hotels
  • Business Offices
  • Responsible for removing trash, recycling and replaces liners.
  • Regularly clean building interiors and exteriors, pressure wash concrete and other surfaces, sweep, mop, blow leaves, and pick up lost or discarded items.
  • Immediately report maintenance repair issues to supervisor.
  • Ensure all lost and found items are turned in daily.
  • Use chemicals to clean and sanitize, subject to heavy lifting and prolonged standing.
  • Works at different heights to clean walls and windows.
  • Responsible for vacuuming, scrubbing, shampooing, waxing, and polishing all floor types, porches and public areas.
  • Clean hazardous spills such as bodily fluids.
  • Ensure all custodian closest and work areas are kept neat, clean and organized.
  • Constantly keep hallways, elevators, stairways, meeting rooms, and offices clean, including outside areas and grounds.
  • Assure appropriate appearance of all public areas and private rooms for guest comfort.
  • Must maintain professional appearance wearing a clean, pressed uniform, including name tag.
  • Be honest, reliable, and prompt in assisting guests through daily contact.
  • At times, strip beds, collect dirty linen, and remove trash from hotels.
  • Respond to two-way radio requests professionally and in a timely efficient manner.
  • Ability to move about campus to provide service in all assigned areas, utilizing a variety of transportation vehicles. I.e. golf cart, work van, and oversized work van.
  • Secures all doors and locks after finishing work in assigned buildings before or after hours.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and reports any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience. Hospitality experience strongly desired.
  • Must have demonstrated good communication skills, and a commitment to providing responsive and timely customer service.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and work structures.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed timely.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal or schedule formats.
  • Ability to effectively present job related information upon request to customers, and employees of the organization.
  • Proven organizational skills and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of customer and employee questions.
  • Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of exceeding guest’s expectations.
  • Must be able to drive company owned vehicles.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Must be able to support the Christian mission and vision of Lake Junaluska.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate to heavy physical activity performing custodian type work activities with moderate to loud noise.
  • Indoor/outdoor work. Frequently exposed to all weather conditions.
  • Works with the fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials
  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel; frequently moves about, able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Able to lift or otherwise move or reposition objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of chemicals, to include but not limited to; ammonia, disinfectants, floor finishers, waxes, removers and bleach based products without risk of irritation or allergic reaction.
  • Vision: must be able to see close and at a distance to perform daily duties.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, to include days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime when needed and requested.
