Lake in the Hills, Village of (IL) is Hiring a Customer Service Specialist Near Hills, IL

The purpose of this position is to provide front-line customer service to the general public regarding services provided by the Village. Duties include but are not limited to answering inquiries and resolving issues, by phone, email and in person. This position is responsible for supporting a number of departments in generalized services. Provides effective and efficient front-line customer service to customers. Responds to inquiries by providing information, resolving issues or escalating issues to other appropriate personnel.
Receives and processes payments, fines, and fees. 
Prepares cash register, counter, and computer available for public use including related start up and shut down responsibilities.
Works with multiple software programs to answer inquiries. Enters information for processing payments, scheduling, permitting, bills, registrations, and reservations.
Updates and maintains department specific electronic and paper databases, files, forms andrecords.
Prepares a variety of financial and operational reports as requested. 
Reviews files, records and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests and disseminate to others.
Compiles, proofreads, copies, sorts and files records relating to department activities.
As necessary, attends and acts as Recording Secretary at Parks and Recreation Board meetings. Prepares and assembles packets for meetings, which includes transcription of meeting minutes. Records, prepares, and distributes meeting minutes.
Composes and prepares correspondence.
Sorts and distributes department mail.
Assists department with special projects.
Utilizes proper safety precautions related to all work performed and adheres to all departmental and Village safety policies. Advises supervisor of hazards and corrective actions.
Other duties as assigned.High school diploma or equivalent with administrative office management training preferred and a minimum of two years related experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. The physical and work environment characteristics described in this description are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This work involves occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds within a limited range for access to storage boxes; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires standing, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
Work has standard vision requirements.
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.
Work may involve dealing with irate individuals which may cause discomfort.
Work has no exposure to environmental conditions.
Work is generally in a moderately noisy office setting (e.g. business office, light traffic).
