The Trafficking Task Force goal is to lead and unite organizations that currently provide services and work around issues of assisting victims of Human Trafficking. The coordinator will oversee all planning and implementation of strategies to align with combating Human Trafficking work. This includes the development and facilitation of multidisciplinary enhanced collaborative approach guidelines for enhanced investigation and service coordination. Preferably a Task Force Coordinator who is bilingual. The State’s Attorney’s Office offers flexible scheduling and the ability to work remotely one day per week. The Task Force includes law enforcement, investigators, social service organizations, victim service providers from the medical field and prosecutors. The Task Force Coordinator will serve as the point person for the Task Force and will actively connect them to our partner social service agency, A Safe Place, for services. Assist the community in identifying and developing needed services, creating outreach materials, and developing curriculum around combating Human Trafficking.
The Task Force Coordinator will exercise discretion, independent judgment, and professional skill in assessing, and working with community organizations around Human Trafficking identification and education. Represents the State’s Attorney in daily interactions with victims, members of the public and community agencies and serves as a confidential employee.
Maintains close contact with the assistant state’s attorneys and the investigators handling the underlying criminal case. Reports to the Division Chief.The Task Force Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office Trafficking Task Force, including data collection, analysis, program management, grant reporting, trainings, and community outreach:
 
  • Organize, coordinate, and facilitate all Task Force and subcommittee meetings;
  • Work with the leadership team to lead strategic planning and projects for the Task Force;
  • Conduct project management for the Task Force;
  • Serve as a liaison between all law enforcement, prosecutors, victim services, government, community organizations, other public stakeholders, and referring agencies involved in the Task Force;
  • Manage all evaluation activities for the Task Force in collaboration with the Action Research Partner, including data collection, analysis, and distribution of findings for program strengthening and grant reporting;
  • Prepare outreach materials and presentations for the Task Force;
  • Conduct trainings and organize presenters for the annual human trafficking event
  • Coordinate, meet and work with A Safe Place staff;
  • Work with the Director of Grants Management and federal grant managers to ensure programming and financial compliance;
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Good knowledge of the techniques of effective interviewing for victims of trauma, counseling, crisis intervention, and case management.
  • Good knowledge of community resources and social agencies.
  • Good knowledge of the criminal justice system and court procedures.
  • Good understanding of Human Trafficking.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and impartially.
  • Ability to secure the cooperation of others in difficult situations.
  • Ability to interview effectively and evaluate information obtained.
  • Strong organizational, program planning, program management, and analytical skill.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, court officials and community agencies.
  • Ability to maintain confidential material.
  • Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license. Driving required on occasion.
Education and/or Other Requirements
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in counseling, criminal justice, social work or a related field. If no experience in counseling, criminal justice or related field, completion of a master’s degree in counseling, criminal justice, social work or related field.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
