Lake County YMCA is Hiring a Program Coordinator Near Willoughby, OH

LOOKING FOR A FUN, REWARDING JOB? The West End YMCA in Willoughby is hiring a part time program coordinator to work primarily in the youth development department.

Hours: Up to 28 hours per week. Mostly evenings and some weekends.

Pay Rate: $15.00 starting rate and a FREE Family YMCA membership.

Requirements:

  • Supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Area of emphasis primarily focuses on youth development and sports and related activities and responsibilities.
  • Train, develop, schedule, and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Assist the Program Director with interviewing, hiring, and reviewing and evaluating staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensure records of staff certifications and training are current and complete.
  • Assist in program development and marketing and distribution of program information including welcome communication, rosters, and evaluations.
  • Create and adjust instructor and field house monitor work schedules and review timecards.
  • Supervise programs to make sure staff and member needs are met and ensure uniformity among class instruction/curriculum.
  • Assist in the development of the program budget and monitor to ensure fiscal objectives are me.
  • Step in to cover program instruction on an as-needed basis.
  • Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • Two years of program instruction or related experience. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computers. Verbal and written communication, typing/data entry, office management software and basic knowledge of office equipment and related software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Certifications: Complete Y provided CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Basic First Aid within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Medium work. Exerting 50 pounds of force rarely, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • Frequently subject to environmental conditions- heat and humidity both inside and outside. May occur mostly outside.
  • Ability to: stand, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching frequently throughout the work shift; squatting, jumping, running, balancing, lifting and repetitive motion may be needed depending on group exercise style/ type; walk throughout the facility frequently and may need to climb stairs occasionally; have visual acuity to determine safety, security, and assessment of participant’s movements; receive detailed information through sound as well as express through spoken word.
