DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the development of the daily schedule and distribute to the appropriate staff members
• Plan and teach lessons for the residents which align with the Indiana Academic Standards
• Maintain an accurate record of resident attendance using the sign in sheet
• Establish and maintain procedures for the checking in and out of all materials (pencils, notebooks, colored pencils, markers, etc)
• Maintain an accurate count of all materials (pencils, notebooks, colored pencils, markers, etc)
• Establish classroom rules and procedures and apply them consistently and fairly in cooperation with the detention staff
• Provide feedback to the residents regarding their performance and progress
• Regularly review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans and provide appropriate accommodations
• Provide residents an opportunity to complete homework assignments if given by their home schools
• Provide residents with an opportunity to write letters at least one time per week
• Review resident letters in conjunction with the Detention Officers for inappropriate items
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred

· Ability to work with a diverse adolescent population

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,865.00 per year
