DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- The Biomedical Technician I performs preventive maintenance and repair on clinical equipment and other sophisticated electronic systems within the hospital. When assigned, will perform electronic safety inspections and other activities pertinent to accreditation and/or licensure.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Test, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment.
- Research part numbers, prices, and vendor information.
- Maintain an adequate inventory or spare parts/ spare equipment.
- Accurately documents preventive and corrective maintenance work completed.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate; with high preference for additional training in electricity, electronics or mechanical engineering disciplines.
- Should have working knowledge of basic electronics and fundamental ITS knowledge.
- Must be able to interpret and follow standards set by applicable local, state and national codes.
- Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Must be able to apply good judgment with making decisions.
- Have advanced prioritization skills.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Capable of performing light to medium duty physical tasks.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
- The work environment may be physically confining.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
