JOB TITLE: Ride Operator

SUMMARY:

As a Ride Operator Team Member, you are responsible for maintaing a clean and safe environment throughout the park and safety of all guest and employees. The Ride Operator Team Member will also be enforcing all park policies and safety guidelines in accordance with The Funplex’s Policies and Procedures. You will provide exceptional guest service while delivering thrills and excitement. You will ensure excellent guest service by responding to and exceeding their requirements, expectations and needs. In all you do, you will consistently practice safe work habits, including the use of personal protective equipment:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean the ride area, perform safety inspections, and maintain ride cleanliness throughout the day, including sweeping ride enclosures, cleaning ride structures, seats, and other miscellaneous duties
  • Operate amusement rides during normal and unusual situations and different modes of operations. The Ride Operator will closely monitor the ride and guests to ensure safe operation.
  • Direct guests to the ride to load and unload in a safe efficient manner, including assisting children on and off rides.
  • Respond quickly to unusual situations during normal operation, including power failure, operating system faults or shutdowns, fire, and guest evacuation.
  • Provide verbal instructions to guests at the start of each ride and in some cases during the ride cycle.
  • Check and redeem proper credits for each ride
  • Monitor and respond to inappropriate guest behavior, enforce rules and restrictions, regulate guests’ actions, and request assistance from Operations Leadership as needed.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of motivation toward providing guest satisfaction by displaying a friendly approach to service guests. In addition, must be able to deal with many guests each day in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Must be flexible to work a different ride and/or attraction positions and must be knowledgeable of all workstation’s requirements and functions.
  • During training periods, must be able to read and assimilate information provided in the Ride’s Standard Operating Procedures and the Seasonal Employee Handbook, and comprehend verbal instructions
  • Will be working around high noise levels from the amusement rides and carious equipment. Must be able to remain focused on the job while dealing with interruptions from guests and/or other employees
  • Must be willing to confirm to The Funplex’s Grooming Guidelines and wear the proper issued uniform. A neat, clean professional appearance is required at all times.
  • Must be willing and able to perform all other job duties and assignments as assigned by management.

  • Able to learn and understand all policies and procedures pertinent to the department and the functions of the job.

  • Able to deal with guests in a friendly, but firm manner to provide for a good guest experience and enforce safety rules.
  • Able to work effectively independently as well as with a group.
  • Able to learn, comprehend, and enforce The Funplex Policies and Procedures.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to handle stressful situation in a calm, professional manner.
  • Able to follow daily operations and closing procedures in order to operate the ride as instructed, enforce safety rules and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in all work areas.
  • Able to respond quickly to unusual situations during normal operation, including power failure and/or operating system faults or shutdowns, and fires.
  • Able to handle minor complaints and suggestions from our guests in a calm and professional manner or seek additional assistance from supervisor if necessary.
  • Perform inspection checklists accurately and honestly according to procedure.
  • Clean work area daily or more often, as needed.
