LAFOURCHE PARISH SCHOOL BOARD


Title: Curriculum Coach


Qualifications:

  • Individual must hold a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate, meeting the requirement listed in the Louisiana Standards for State certification of school personnel, Bulletin 746, Part III, IV, V, VI, VII, IX, and X.
  • Masters Degree (Preferred); Reading Specialist Certification (Preferred);
  • Regular and Special Education Certification (Preferred)
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience
  • Additional criteria as the board may require
  • Minimum requirements as stated in SDE Bulletin 746 (as revised)
  • Qualifications should not be established for the individual, but rather for the position.

Reports To: Principal(s) and Elementary Curriculum Director

Performance Responsibilities: The Curriculum Coach shall facilitate effective teaching and instructional programs. The Curriculum Coach shall assist teachers in planning, facilitating and evaluating the learning progress of all students, including at-risk students and students with disabilities in his/her identified area(s) of need.


DOMAIN I: CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION

The Curriculum Coach shall:

  • model effective program strategies that improve literacy across the curriculum and math understanding;
  • monitor teachers to assure the implementation of effective literacy and math instruction;
  • conduct daily classroom visits to encourage and support teachers in the implementation of effective research based literacy strategies across the curriculum and math strategies;
  • conduct model lessons for classroom teachers;
  • provide assistance and support to teachers;
  • assist teachers as they conduct continuous progress-monitoring of students;
  • collaborate and coordinate efforts with school principals to ensure effective literacy instruction across the curriculum and math instruction; and
  • assist in parent and family engagement as it relates toschool improvement, literacy development and math understanding.


DOMAIN II: EVALUATION

The Curriculum Coach shall:

  • assist school improvement teams and principals in the analyzing of school data to determine student academic performance and instructional needs;
  • assist school improvement teams and principals in the identification of student exhibiting intervention needs;
  • assist teachers with the administration of pre/post intervention assessments; and
  • provide quarterly program evaluation reports to school principals and federal program supervisors.


DOMAIN III: STAFF DEVELOPMENT

The Curriculum Coach shall:

  • coordinate and provide staff development in-services to teachers that focus on literacy development across the curriculum and math understanding;
  • present the accomplishments of literacy and math strategy implementation at meetings; and
  • conduct meetings with teachers to review the effectiveness of interventions, literacy strategies across the curriculum and math strategies.


DOMAIN IV: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND ETHICS

The Curriculum Coach shall:

  • participate in Curriculum Coach training sessions;
  • keep abreast of innovative practices and research through extensive professional readings and participation in seminars, conferences and workshops;
  • disseminate information about current trends, research, and practices to teachers and administrators
  • observe professional ethics;
  • cooperate and work along with entire staff of each assigned school;
  • seek, share and respect ideas of others; and
  • perform such tasks and duties as assigned by the superintendent and/or his designee.


DOMAIN V: PROFESSIONALISM

1. The teacher grows and develops through professional development as
assigned and voluntarily to improve teaching and learning.

  • Attends and constructively participates in meetings and professional development activities.
  • Uses active listening skills.
  • Accepts and recognizes the value of the contribution of others.

2. The teacher shows professionalism in attitude and conduct

  • Develops leadership and responsibility in colleagues and students if applicable.
  • Demonstrates skills to receive and give constructive feedback.
  • Identifies problems and issues and works collaboratively to contribute ideas and find solutions.
  • Maintains communication with immediate supervisor, keeping him/her informed of problems, concerns, and significant developments.
  • Uses verbal and non-verbal communication in a respectful manner.
  • Writes and speaks clearly and concisely for understanding.
  • Develops and maintains a safe and caring environment for students.
  • Represents the schools and district in a positive manner.
  • Adheres to Lafourche Parish School Board employee dress code.
  • Treats all stakeholders in a respectful and helpful manner.
  • Cooperates with administration in the performance of additional duties.
  • Cooperates with building and district staff in planning and evaluation.
  • Completes tasks, reports, and documents accurately according to specified timelines and expectations.
  • Minimizes bias in self and others and accepts responsibility for his/her own actions.
  • Adheres to Board policies and procedures and administrative rules, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Adheres to district guidelines relative to attendance. Regularly reports to work on time and works additional hours when deemed necessary.
  • Adheres to ethical, legal and professional standards.
  • Applies laws, policies, regulations, and procedures fairly, consistently, wisely, and compassionately.
  • Follows directives as assigned by supervisor.
  • Refrains from revealing confidential information.
  • Uses proper administrative procedures for making requests and resolving conflicts.

3. The teacher performs Curriculum Coach specific duties

  • Models effective program strategies that improve literacy across the curriculum and math understanding.

METHOD OF EVALUATION

The combination of the applicable measure of growth in student learning and the qualitative assessment of performance competencies and standards shall result in a composite score used to distinguish levels of overall effectiveness.
