Lafayette Hearing Center is Hiring a MEDICAL FRONT OFFICE SPECIALIST Near Lafayette, IN

MEDICAL FRONT OFFICE SPECIALIST

Full-time: 5 days per week, 40 hours per week

LHC is looking for an outgoing, high-energy individual who enjoys interacting with a wide variety of people both in person and over the phone. We need a detail-oriented customer service expert to join our team to support the smooth functioning of the front office for a well-established private practice Audiology Clinic in the Greater Lafayette area. We serve people with hearing loss and their family and care givers. This position requires providing exceptional customer service to patients through answering phones, and scheduling appointments for patients as well as tracking referrals from outside sources, greeting and checking in patients, maintaining electronic medical records, and performing other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISOR: Office Supervisor

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer phones and handle calls in a professional, friendly, efficient manner with clear language and slow, measured speed.
  • Schedule appointments for multiple providers and reaches out to patients who have not confirmed appointments for the next day.
  • Accurately enters patients’ demographic information into electronic medical record system.
  • Check-in patients, copy insurance cards, collect co-payments, verify referrals, and medical releases as appropriate.
  • Prepare paperwork for patient appointments for patients unable to complete electronic forms.
  • Fax reports to outside entities as needed.
  • Prepare and email or fax appropriate correspondence to patient's primary care and other medical providers as needed.
  • Collect payments for private-pay transactions. Create invoices/generate receipts.
  • Maintain front office lobby, straightening magazines and refill refreshments. Prepare trash for pick up from weekly cleaning service.
  • Verify cleanliness of patient bathroom and restock bathroom supplies.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date patient record and referring physician database.
  • Package and ship as needed to outside vendors via UPS and FedEx.
  • Receive mail, and other deliveries and distribute to appropriate internal parties.
  • Perform other general office support and clerical duties as assigned.
  • Maintain quality and customer service standards set forth by the Mission, Vision, and Values of The Lafayette Hearing Center.

EDUCATION:

· High school or equivalent

· Some college, technical school, or additional education preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Professional, friendly, and caring customer service skills to ensure patients feel welcome and comfortable.
  • Appropriate phone and email etiquette.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in within a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively handle details with accuracy.
  • Flexible, organized, motivated to learn, and a team player.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Requires use of office equipment, such as telephone, copier, scanner, computer
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Office
  • General knowledge of insurance billing, copays, deductibles preferred.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality, both in and out of the clinic.
  • Follow HIPAA state and federal regulations and company privacy policies and procedures.
  • Experience with Medical Records Software is helpful.
  • Willingness to take occasional company-sponsored continuing education courses and attend an out-of-state Audiology team conference every other year.
