Job Title: Locksmith

Place of Performance: Headquarters Memorial Building 950 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20223

Position Overview:

The Locksmith and Hardware Maintenance Contractor will be responsible for providing a wide range of locksmith services, including repair, installation, and maintenance of locking hardware, panic hardware, door locks, and gun cabinet locks. Additionally, the contractor will perform minor adjustments and repairs of doors and safes as needed. This position will be on an as-needed basis, requiring the contractor to provide all necessary materials, equipment, labor, and supervision to ensure the security and functionality of locking systems and related hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lock Installation and Repair:

    • Install and repair locking hardware, including door locks, panic hardware, and gun cabinet locks.
    • Ensure all locks meet security and safety standards.
  2. Maintenance and Inspection:

    • Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of locking systems to identify and address issues proactively.
    • Perform preventive maintenance to extend the life of locking hardware.
  3. Door and Safe Adjustments:

    • Provide minor adjustments and repairs to doors and safes to ensure proper functionality.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to doors and safes.
  4. Key Management:

    • Maintain accurate records of key distribution and usage.
    • Rekey locks as required for security purposes.
  5. Emergency Response:

    • Respond promptly to emergency requests for lock-related issues.
    • Provide quick and effective solutions to security and access problems.
  6. Compliance and Documentation:

    • Adhere to all relevant regulations and industry standards.
    • Maintain detailed records of work performed, including materials used and time spent.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a locksmith or in a related field.
  • Proficiency in repairing, installing, and maintaining locking hardware.
  • Knowledge of various types of locks, panic hardware, and security systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Valid locksmith license and certifications.
