Ensures phlebotomy staff runs smoothly and tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner related to patient care and patient safety. Provides training for new hires and phlebotomy staff as needed. Responsible for management of clerical functions of the laboratory including ordering, scheduling, time keeping, inventory and maintenance of all data processing equipment, processing and distribution of patient specimens, organization of laboratory test requests, charting of laboratory reports, and communication between nursing units and the laboratory. Works with Lab Director in setting and achieving department goals. Performs additional duties as needed and or assigned. CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
