Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Director to join the team to oversee our partnership with Naples Comprehensive Health located in Naples, FL. As the Laboratory Director you will oversee several Lab Managers and Supervisors that are responsible for the day of operations of the several laboratories located throughout South Florida.

Work Schedule for this position: Monday - Friday 9:00 - 5:30PM

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Directs operation of laboratories within hospital-owned physician practices and urgent care centers.
• Oversees the Laboratory Safety program and ensures that organizational Safety and Infection Prevention procedures / policies are followed in order to maintain a safe environment.
• Manages the staff of the NCH Laboratories. Provides counseling and evaluation of employees in accordance with NCH Policy and Procedure. In coordination with the Accounting Department, develops the annual budgetary requirements for each laboratory department and is accountable for variances throughout the year.
• Displays a positive leadership role. Monitors employee satisfaction and takes positive action to improve satisfaction and decrease employee turnover. Actively solicits input from employees.
• Oversees the Point of Care Testing program, including waived and non-waived testing performed in physician offices.
• Ensures that all approved process improvement programs are implemented and controlled.
• Oversees the Lab Quality Management program Oversees documentation of procedures and policies, maintenance, QC, and other records as required by regulatory agencies and the NCH Healthcare System
• Represents the hospital on interdisciplinary committees to ensure the strategic planning of the laboratories meets the needs of the system.
• Manages the overall operations of the Hospital Laboratories. Collaborates with the Medical Director to ensure that the laboratories continually monitor changes in available technology and advances in laboratory medicine.
• Ensures testing and reporting of results is performed accurately and timely. Reports statistical data to Chairman of the Department of Pathology.
• Manages the laboratory relationship with Cerner. Oversees all IT projects.
• Serves as a Laboratory Subject Matter Expert for Cerner Corp.
• Works closely with Cerner associates to ensure thorough validation of all IT change requests.
• Ensures that all compliance and regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, JCAHO, and ACHA) are met in order to ensure continued accreditation for the Laboratories by regulatory agencies.
• Ensures that the laboratory successfully completes a biennial unannounced CAP inspection.
• Ensures that the each member of the laboratory management team serves on a CAP inspection team each biennium.
• Collaborates with Occupational Health, CHP and Human Resources to ensure that employees and covered dependent laboratory work is provided in accordance with the NCH Health Plan.
• Ensures that physicians are provided with timely reporting.
• Manages outside vendors and services for the NCH Laboratories, including reference laboratories and consultants (i.e., Naples Pathology Associates).

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor degree required, Masters preferred.
• Minimum 5-7 years of laboratory supervisory experience.
• Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel License as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in all 5 areas of responsibility.
• Knowledge of regulatory issues involved with a laboratory; Laboratory financial planning; understanding of laboratory information systems.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
