Labcorp is seeking a Cytogenetics Non-Registered Technician to join its team in Seattle, WA! This position will be working for our Women’s Health and Genetics division. The Non-Registered Tech performs routine laboratory duties to include tracking and receiving samples, communication with clients, Supply maintenance (ordering and reagent prep), lab cleaning and basic maintenance, pre-analytic specimen processing (tissue culture, slidemaking, FISH processing), and assisting analysis techs as needed (preparing karyotypes using computerized system). The Technician will assist Lab Assistants and Technologists as needed. There will be about 40% wet lab work; 60% support and administrative tasks. The schedule for this position will be: Sunday-Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Some overtime may be required

Responsibilities:

• Tracking and Receiving patient samples
• Client Communication: Obtaining critical patient information, informing clients of sample status, and calling with patient results, as needed.
• Log samples into the LIS
• Courier duties to area departments
• Maintain supplies and equipment to include ordering, stocking, and cleaning
• Reagent preparation and aliquoting. Preparing sterile culture materials and media.
• Assist in routine and FISH wetlab. Perform culture initiation, harvesting of cells, staining slides, and FISH Hybes from various tissue types.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding patient samples and problem solving
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Actively participate in process improvements and special projects as assigned

Requirements:

• B.A./B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Cytogenetics Technology or relatable life science
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range: $21.57 – $26.00/hour

Regular, full-time or part-time employees working 24 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(K), accrue up to 18 days of Annual Leave per year (includes 8 holidays) and Sick Leave (0.0333 hours of sick leave for each hour of work).
