The Cohort Assistant Principal for La Vega High School must understand the dynamics and culture of not only the campus, but the diversity, needs, and vision for the district. The Cohort Assistant Principal will encourage and support the instructional programs, mentor and coach teachers within a content area and make suggestions for improvement of instructional delivery. The Cohort Assistant Principal will act as behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations for a student cohort. The Cohort Assistant Principal will take a leadership role in planning and scheduling of daily school activities including the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules. The position will assist the principal in directing and managing assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university
valid Texas mid-management or other appropriate Texas Certificate
Certified instructional supervisor and /or curriculum development
Certified in State Appraisal System
Valid Texas teaching certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Thorough understanding of school operations
Ability to coordinate campus support operations
Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to coordinate campus functions
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data to make informed decisions
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting and implementation
Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques and methodology
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
