Job Description :

Under the supervision and direction of the supervisor, Lifeguards will be responsible for preventing accidents, adhere to Safety rules, and rescue patrons in and around the pool.

Lifeguards will also be responsible for informing patrons of safety around the pool. Lifeguards are expected to create a welcoming environment to all patrons.

Job Responsibilities :

• Recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations by activating the Emergency Action Plan (EAP)
• Maintain continuous surveillance of people in the swimming pool
• Communicate and enforce all pool policies and rules in a personable and professional manner
• Record headcount of patrons during shift
• Conduct daily inspections of the pool, pool deck and any other equipment
• Document any incidents and / or injuries
• Inspect safety equipment on a daily basis
• Attend and participate in regular in-service trainings
• Provide a welcoming environment to all patrons
• Maintain a clean and neat work space
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Communicate clear and concise information as needed to patrons, students, security, emergency medical service personnel and police services.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (Required)
• Current CPR / First Aid / AED Certification (Required)
• Must be currently enrolled at La Sierra University

Preferred Qualifications :

Previous lifeguarding experience

Physical Demands :

• Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.

Hours :

Part time : Approximately 15 hours / week. Sundays will be required.

Rate : $17.00 / hr.

Note : Your certifications must be valid and must not expire within 3 months of the start of employment as a lifeguard.
