About La Puente Home, Inc.

La Puente is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving Colorado's San Luis Valley by providing food, shelter, and advocacy for the homeless and community members in crisis. La Puente was founded in 1982 and endeavors to meet immediate needs and to empower people to live independently with dignity. The organization operates a homeless shelter and soup kitchen, a network of 14 food pantries, homeless prevention services, a transitional living program for families, after school and summer programs for at-risk children, and a community garden and nutrition education program.

Job purpose

Rethreads is a free community thrift store which exists to provide clothing and basic household needs to those in need in the San Luis Valley. The Manager will provide a welcoming and non-judgmental atmosphere to those seeking assistance. The manager is responsible for sorting and distributing items to customers and works closely with Rainbows End to maintain its inventory. Professional donor relations and ability to work with volunteers is needed. Ability to work independently and track distribution of goods is required.

Duties and responsibilities

Oversight of Store operations

● Sorting and displaying clothing and other household items

● Coordinating with Rainbows End Thrift Store for movement of goods and filling unmet items

● Maintain cleanliness of the facility

Customer Service

● Create welcoming atmosphere for customers

● Maintain professional behavior with diverse population

● Helping meet customer needs

● Awareness of community resources

Donor and Volunteer Relations

● Provide welcoming attitude toward donors

● On-going inventory of needs

● Utilize volunteers in a meaningful manner

Data Collection

● Tracking number of clients served and items distributed

Qualifications

● Ability to work independently

● Professional customer service skills

● Engaging and non-judgmental attitude

● Retail experience helpful

● Bilingual helpful but not required

Working Conditions

● Part-time, Monday through Friday

● Ability to work independently

● Ability to lift and sort

● Basic computer skills

Wages

Salary - $15.00/hr
