BILINGUAL POST-MASTERS CLINICAL FELLOW

JOB SUMMARY

La Cocina’s Post-Masters Clinical Fellowship program provides specialized, practice-based training to newly graduated, license-eligible clinicians. Post-Masters Clinical Fellows engage in intensive, specialized, practice-based training in Latine and Applied Liberation Psychology, alongside the provision of bilingual (Spanish-English) mental health services. These services include counseling/psychotherapy, mental health consultation, group psychotherapy, reflective consultation/supervision (RSC), case management, and program support as directed by the Clinical Training Supervisor.

At this time, La Cocina is seeking a Post-Masters Fellow who is committed to learning and working with Latine individuals, families, and communities. The right candidate is open and committed to ongoing learning and growth based on La Cocina’s Applied Liberation Psychology framework..

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities for this position include, and are not limited to the following:

Clinical Services (60-70% of time)

  • Maintain a client load of 15-20 cases, or as directed by the fellow’s supervisor.
  • Conducts culturally-affirming mental health and/or psychological assessment; this includes utilizing best practice approaches and innovation in care when conducting therapeutic evaluation that centers Latine clients’ needs, and as directed by the Clinical Training Supervisor.
  • Provides developmentally sensitive, trauma-informed individual, couples, family and/or group psychotherapy services in both Spanish and English.
  • In some cases, provides home-based, school-based, community-based, and/or collocated mental health and/or family support services which align with clinical program areas and as directed by their supervisor.
  • Trains in, and learns up-to-date frameworks, theories, and treatment methods, including, but not limited to: Latine Psychology, Liberation Psychology, trauma-informed care, group psychotherapy, and relational approaches to working with families, children and youths intended to build expertise in equitable and liberatory mental healthcare delivery frameworks and narratives.
  • Participates in weekly one-one clinical/reflective supervision with their supervisor.
  • Participates in weekly group clinical/reflective supervision with clinical trainees and interns.

Other Duties (30-40% of the time)

  • Trains in, and learns up-to-date frameworks, theories, and treatment methods, including, but not limited to: Latine Psychology, Liberation Psychology, trauma-informed care, group psychotherapy, and relational approaches to working with families, children and youths.
  • Connects clients with resources, referrals, ancillary services, and provides case management as needed, and/or as indicated by their supervisor.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with community organizations and/or partners to better meet the needs of clients, and to promote services coordination.
  • Remains compliant with all required clinical documentation, including maintaining up-to-date case files, progress notes, treatment plans, etc., per La Cocina Clinician’s Handbook, and per DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) statutes. This includes time for monthly self-audit as directed by the Clinical Training Supervisor.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and teams, including program teams and training staff.
  • Trains in and supports community codesign, outreach and engagement efforts, which may include privileging the voices of Latine communities and clients served by La Cocina, and by collaborating and reaching out to strategic community partners and stakeholders, supporting development of equitable narratives and outreach materials, program recruitment and registration, etc.
  • Provides support to La Cocina’s program teams as directed by their direct supervisor, supporting programming with a liberatory approach to clinical services, and in collaboration with programs and operations team members.
  • Trains in and supports the provision of services relevant to La Cocina’s grants, contracts, and programs. These services may include, but are not limited to development and delivery of community Charlas, consultation services, group facilitation, development and delivery of community-based training, support with program evaluation, and other tasks as relevant to program needs and as directed by direct supervisor(s) and Leadership Team.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings in the interest of building community and advancing La Cocina’s mission and values.
  • Assists with other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) licensure candidate or be eligible for licensure candidacy within three months of applying to this fellowship program.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with under-resourced communities/persons while working from a Latine social justice perspective.
  • Strong organizational, self-management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to support multiple cases as part of a standard part-time clinical load.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on centering therapeutic relationships that heal.
  • Excellent communications skills, including written and verbal communications.
  • Commitment to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to advance La Cocina’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Proficiency and sensitivity working with Latine social justice movements, and with matters pertaining to oppression, discrimination, racism, and white fragility, with a demonstrated record of balancing a strong social justice stance with best clinical practice standards.
  • Must sign La Cocina Clinician’s Handbook, agreeing to maintaining full clinical compliance.
  • Must be willing to undergo a series of full background checks, including fingerprinting.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Applicants must have completed a terminal clinical Masters program in the following clinical mental health fields: psychology, counseling, counseling education, social work, and/or marriage & family therapy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION

This is a hybrid position requiring four (4) days in the office, with the option to work from home/virtually one day per week. Depending on where your fellowship is assigned, your primary working location will be at either La Cocina’s Northern Colorado or Denver location. This position also requires travel between office locations, as well as periodic travel to partner agencies throughout Northern Colorado, the Denver Metro Area, statewide, and may involve some travel out-of-state.

HOURS

This is a temporary (18-months), full-time (40-hours per week) position that requires availability some evenings and weekends in order to support La Cocina’s clients’ needs. La Cocina offers Flex Time as a benefit to all full-time, exempt employees. Current La Cocina clinical interns are highly encouraged to apply.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT USED

Ability to operate all general office equipment including computer and related software, printer, copier, fax, and phones. Ability to operate and drive vehicles for work related travel, meetings, and to run errands.

CLASSIFICATION & PAY

This position’s salary is $57,000-$67,000/year depending on the candidate’s qualifications, ability to meet all requirements, and based on organizational alignment.

This is a full-time, exempt position and is eligible for benefits. La Cocina’s benefits include health insurance, 401K retirement plan, flex-time, PTO and agency closures both in summer and winter.
