Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer- Thermal Analyst Job Code: 9171 Job Location: Salt Lake City, Utah Job Description: We are currently seeking a Lead Thermal Analyst to join our Communication Systems Segment in supporting our Mechanical Design team. This role will be responsible for Training and mentoring team members, developing analysis guidelines, methods, and tools for use by the department.
Developing innovative electromechanical packaging solutions that achieve design objectives while simultaneously satisfying multiple design constraints.
Incorporating thermal management technologies that enable higher performance designs into military grade environments requiring ruggedized electronics.
Ensuring new designs progress and achieve technical objectives, while adhering to budgetary and schedule constraints.
Assisting in specification creation, the proposal process, and presentations to customers, and executives.
Pursue advanced technology IRAD (Internal Research and Development) funding to develop new and innovative thermal techniques.
Participate in various university collaboration efforts for graduates and undergraduates.
Experience with design for space environments is a plus. Familiarity with EEE-INST-002, and analytical methods for evaluating component thermal fatigue (Engelmaier, Coffin-Manson).
Working knowledge and experience with FEA theory, (ANSYS or FLOEFD experience preferred).
Exposure to/experience with environmental testing, i.e. shock, vibration, temperature/altitude, and environmental stress screening (ESS).
Experience with additive manufacturing (FDM, MJF, DMLS)
Proficient in CAD and drafting standards. Experience with Siemens' NX, preferred and Experience with SpaceClaim a plus.
Experiences with plating of polymers for ruggedized environments is a plus.
Thermal Compensation (STL compensation) analysis is a plus.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
