We are seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our company as a Scale Operator. The Scale Operator will be responsible for accurately weighing and recording incoming and outgoing materials, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • This position requires moderate computer proficiency, and our ideal candidate has prior experience with trucking, data entry, and industrial workplace safety.
  • Operate scale equipment to weigh incoming and outgoing materials, vehicles, or products accurately
  • Record weight measurements and other relevant data in electronic or manual logs.
  • Verify the identity and documentation of incoming and outgoing materials or vehicles.
  • Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal staff to coordinate weigh-in and weigh-out procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during weighing operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on scale equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor and report any issues or discrepancies in weighing operations to management.
  • Assist with inventory management tasks, such as trac king stock levels and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the scale area and surrounding work areas.
  • Provide excellent customer service to drivers and customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Calculate costs for drivers based on vehicle weight
  • Maintain a safe, organized working environment

Requirements:

Education/Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED certificate preferred
  • Experience in trucking or in an industrial yard environment preferred
  • Previous experience as a Scale Operator or in a similar role is preferred but not required

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Moderate computer proficiency
  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail for accurate weighing and recording.

Work Requirements

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Physical ability to lift and move materials as needed and work in an outdoor environment.
  • Basic knowledge of safety regulations and procedures for weighing operations.
