What You Will Learn:

As a CAD & CAM Designer Technician working for L'Oreal Manufacturing in Florence, Kentucky, you would gain valuable experience in the intricacies of designing and optimizing production processes for high-volume consumer goods, particularly shampoo. You would learn to create detailed digital models of manufacturing components and systems, ensuring precision and efficiency in the production line. The programmer would also develop a deep understanding of the specific requirements for maintaining product quality and consistency, adhering to strict industry standards and regulations. Additionally, they would collaborate closely with mechanics, engineers, and quality teams to implement improvements and troubleshoot issues, enhancing their problem-solving skills and knowledge of the cosmetic manufacturing industry.

What We Are Looking For:

This role supports new product launches, capital project implementation, and OEE improvements through in-house tooling fabrication. The successful candidate will maintain a culture of safety and focus on consumer-centric quality. Responsibilities include collecting precise measurements of equipment and tooling, then adapting those measurements to fabricate tooling. Proficiency in operating CNC equipment with up to 4-axis simultaneous machining capability is essential.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software is necessary; Fusion 360 is highly preferable.
  • Completion of formal CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) Certified training program or three (3) years on-the-job training as a CAD/CAM programmer
  • Capability to setup machining jobs with 4 axis equipment including setting up tooling and work coordinate system offsets.
  • Familiar with calculating and applying feed rates.
  • Familiar with the machining techniques of milling and turning stock within high precision and accuracy.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' work experience in a manufacturing environment. Communicates effectively & respectfully, both orally and in writing, and able to build positive work relationships across departments.
  • Conscientious, positive attitude, reliable, responsible and flexible.
  • Be self-motivated and work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Organized and able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to meet time commitments.
  • Strong attention to detail and desire to follow procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation and adherence to all L'Oreal policies and procedures including but not limited to, the Corporation's Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality, & Equal Employment Policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety procedures.
  • Design automation tooling and prototypes using CAD/CAM software with the purpose of machining using computer numerical controlled (CNC) metal-cutting and forming machines, 3D Printing, and equipment including but not limited to saws, drills, grinders, lathes, mills, die presses, machinist hand tools and precision measuring devices.
  • Fabricate tooling using conventional and computer numerical controlled (CNC) metal-cutting and forming machines, 3D Printing, and equipment including but not limited to saws, drills, grinders, lathes, mills, die presses, machinist hand tools and precision measuring devices.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings of tooling and product, including Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) callouts, to build tooling to specification and/or properly annotate changes to tooling
  • Work independently and as part of a team to create and implement tooling solutions for production equipment when engineering design resources are not available. This may include developing complex tool paths, creating 3D models or prints and/or, reverse engineering existing parts for modification/fabrication.
  • Provide estimates of tooling build time to establish shop promise dates and execute assigned work to meet job promise dates.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace and follow 5S methodology and perform other custodial responsibilities as required
