L.O. Eye Care is Hiring an Ophthalmic Assistant Near Mount Pleasant, MI

L.O. Eye Care is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Assistants in our Mt. Pleasant location. Interested candidates must work well with others, show leadership qualities, organizational and time management skills, a positive attitude and dependability. On the job training skills provided.

Essential functions
The following list is a summary of the key functions of the job and may not be inclusive of all duties assigned.

  • Obtain and record patient’s chief complaint and complete ocular and medical history
  • Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how they may be affected during the tests.
  • Instills eye drops and any other medication as prescribed by the provider.
  • Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks using necessary or required tools and machines to include but not limited to: Visual Acuity, ARK, Lensometry, Confrontation fields, evaluation of motility, pupillary function tests, IOP check, Visual Fields, BAT, Pachymetry, Corneal Topography, OCT, IOL Master/A-scan, Stereo Vision testing, color vision testing and refracting.
  • Assists in maintaining efficient patient flow by seeing patients within designated time frame and by helping in other clinic areas where patient flow is heavier (as training permits).
  • Stocks and cleans clinical areas as assigned by Clinical Manager.
  • Maintains universal precautions and proper cleaning of exam rooms and/or equipment between patients.
  • Informs Clinical Manager of potential equipment problems and/or lack of quality equipment results.
  • Other tasks specific to the provider’s needs as a result of new technologies.

Work environment

  • Public/Patient environment with typical public and patient exposure and scenarios.

Physical demands/potential hazards

  • Must be able to walk, stand, and move around for the majority of the day; may be required to lift equipment up to 50 pounds and assist patients with physical mobility.

Travel required

  • 0-25% travel required.

Education and experience
Educational requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • OMA Certification required after 90 days of employment
  • No experience necessary
  • Experience preferred

Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour
