SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping the extrusion lines running, including servicing extruders, saws, haul offs and hopper feeders.

Basic responsibilities include:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair/replace mechanical issues related to extrusion machines, haul-offs, saws, drop tables, air, water, hopper feeders, etc.
• Need to be able to replace heater bands, thermocouples, heater plugs, air connections, set saws for timing, length of cut and height, etc.
• Conduct preventative maintenance work as directed
• Must have familiarity with all safety requirements including LOTO and guarding
• Assist in maintaining OSHA required initiatives for disposal of fluids, etc.
• Start up new and or repaired equipment to ensure proper operation
• Assist with production as needed to keep the lines running. We all work together as a team to keep the lights on, so machines need to keep running.
• Other activities as directed by supervisor.

Additional Responsibilities

Assist operators in production as necessary.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Basic reading, writing, and math skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
• Ability to be certified in forklift operation.
• The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects or tools, or controls; reach with hand and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear or smell.
• The employee must be periodically lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include those close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses, and steel-toed work boots, and ear protection. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
