Lead Safety Valve System Technician - Kuparuk Field Support Services - Wells Group

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Safety Valve System Technician is responsible for planning and performing monthly regulatory required SVS testing of SSV’s, SSSV’s, low pressure pilots and O/A high pressure pilots, within the Greater Kuparuk Area (GKA) in accordance with Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC) regulations and ConocoPhillips Alaska (COPA) SVS Management Program procedures. This will include performing the test, documenting results, verifying that the results meet regulatory requirements, and entering the data into COPA systems for COPA review and submittal to AOGCC.

 

A minimum of four (4) years of oilfield experience is required. Arctic experience is desirable. Must be knowledgeable of hydraulic pump truck operations, gas venting and flagging/tagging standards. Should have basic mechanical skills, SSV and SSSV, SVS (Safety Valve Systems) including operation and function of low and high-pressure pilot operation knowledge. Should have previous wellhead, or wells operations experience in shutting in and bringing well online. Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, and strong computer skills as needed to learn IP21, SAP, and SkillsNow.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • SVS testing of all GKA wells.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of SVS equipment.
  • Documentation of test results and data entry into COPA computer systems.
  • Documentation and data entry of SVS component maintenance activities into COPA computer systems.
  • Strict compliance with AOGCC SVS regulations and COPA SVS Management Program procedures.
  • Strong computer skills. Able to use various data analysis tools to review and understand SVS program performance.
  • Communicate and coordinate with AOGCC State Inspectors, COP Operations / Production Engineer Specialist / Field Service Valve Crew for all SVS testing and preventative maintenance.
  • Write notifications and work orders using SAP.
  • Shut in and bring online production and injection wells during SVS testing.
  • Work involves performing routine tasks in cold temperatures and other environmental extremes.
  • Leading by example with a “Zero Incident Culture” person, as well as promoting this culture within all Kuparuk personnel.
  • Needs to be able to work alone, self-motivated with a positive attitude, great aptitude with strong leadership skills.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of related oilfield experience is required.
  • Previous experience with hydraulic pump truck operations, gas venting and flagging/tagging standards required.
  • Basic mechanical skills, SSV and SSSV, SVS (Safety Valve Systems) including operation and function of low and high-pressure pilot operation knowledge required.
  • Microsoft Office experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Wellhead or wells operations experience in shutting in and bringing well online experience preferred.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you.All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms.Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift.Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp.Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc.Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
