POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Job Status: All Applicants

Job Title: Head Boys Basketball Coach for the 24/25 School Year

Location: Middle School

Reports To: Athletic Director

Hours: Part-Time 2024-2025 Season

Salary: TBD (per the supplemental contract salary schedule)


Job Summary:

The Head coach is responsible for safely motivating and developing skills, attitudes, and habits that will guide each athlete toward success, personal growth, and good character in a positive manner. To provide examples of fair play, team building, and respect. Provide leadership and motivation to excel. Develop a competitive program that is committed to creating student-athletes who demonstrate a commitment to academics, strong fundamental skills, and sportsmanship. Excellent supervisory skills over assistant coaches.


Qualifications:

  • Coaching experience preferred.
  • Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of a basketball program.
  • Strongly encouraged to complete a coaching principles course.
  • Complete a First Aid Course with CPR component.
  • Complete concussion course.
  • Positive public relations skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate total development and promotion of the program.
  • Promotes all athletes to participate in sports and activities throughout the school year.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions.
  • Adjust coaching techniques, based on the ability of athletes.
  • Arrange and conduct program-specific activities, such as summer training, skills-improvement sessions, and pre-season try-outs.
  • Instruct athletes in rules, game strategies, and performance principles.
  • Provide training, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for competition.
  • Hire, supervise, and train assistant coaches.
  • Develop and arrange competition schedules and programs with approval of the Athletic Director.
  • Generate additional funds for support of the program through approved fundraisers.
  • Inventory and issue Athletic equipment.
  • Professionally communicate with the media.
  • Carefully operate under state/league/school rules and regulations.
  • Understand rules and regulations and is in compliance with High school activities. (See link:http://www.idhsaa.org/rules/manual.aspx).
  • Discipline, adjusts grievances and works to increase morale and cooperation.
  • Provide all documentation to the Athletic Director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examination, parental consent, and eligibility.
  • Effectively manage a budget.
  • Manage and coordinate Athletic facilities.
  • Deal with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive, encouraging manner.
  • Adhere to the KHS academic standards.
  • Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.

  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
