Position Summary:

Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department and control all established quality assurance standards. Support day-to-day functions of the department operations. Essential Job Functions:
  • Promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude.
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  • Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet and exceed targets through collaboration and teamwork.
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
  • Train and develop associates on job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, company guidelines, and food safety regulations, compliance with all country of origin labeling and regulations, and prepare foods according to the food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department/store, and offering product samples to help customers discover new products.
  • Provide customers with fresh/frozen products ordered and the correct portion size (as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrink; cut meats to customers' requests using proper cutting equipment.
  • Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales/merchandising supervisor.
  • Inform and educate associates and customers on meat promotions by staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads and implementing the period department promotional plan in partnership with management.
  • Assist management in preparing the department budget, expense control, and profit/loss reviews, and take appropriate action on all financial reports.
  • Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
  • Plan and organize inventory process, maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions, note any discrepancies, trained department associates on inventory/stocking, and Computer Assisted Ordering.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, notifying store management of customer or employee accidents, practicing preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment, and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Current food handlers permit once employed.
  • Possess adequate knife handling skills and knife speed.
Desired Previous Job Experience:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Management experience.
  • Knowledge of cutting, wrapping, and labeling.
  • Meat/Retail experience.
  • Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
