Kratos Defense is Hiring a RF Program Manager Near Birmingham, AL

Job Description:

This is a project management role for radio frequency (RF) technology projects. The position requires a balance of technical capability with business fundamentals and team management. The role will work with technical leads and principal investigators to support each project’s execution strategy by handling management tasking duties, including scheduling, reporting and budget monitoring, as well as coordination, communication resource management, and process improvement. The position goal is to work alongside technical leadership to maximize their research and effectiveness while providing transparency to the internal team and external clients at ever project stage.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work closely, communicate, and meet with RF Technical Project Leaders and/or Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from project setup to project closure; facilitate regular discussions about project status, issues that may have an impact on the schedule, and financial matters.
  • Ability and willingness to build knowledge and awareness of various KSRE specific disciplines to better anticipate project challenges and opportunities and to integrate with Technical Leaders.
  • Possess a complete understanding of contractual and financial commitments related to assigned projects; be knowledgeable about project scope, deliverable dates, billing, milestones, invoicing, and terms.
  • Identify and document areas for process improvement within the department.
  • Assist and lead proposal preparation with technical team including requirements review and analysis, technical writing, man-power estimates, material estimates and final document review.
  • Assist with project scheduling and prioritizing projects; adept at using Gantt charts, as well as demonstrate expertise with other scheduling tools and methods.
  • Work alongside technical leadership to delegate duties and maintain the workflow of programs.
  • Maintain schedules, tasking, and reporting documentation to track program progress and shortfalls.
  • Track key purchases and engage with vendors to report up-to-date lead times.
  • Provides high-level technical and financial reports in order to show progress to corporate management and customers.
  • Prepare detailed reports for internal and external customers. Manage contract modifications and task orders.
  • Analyze and review governmental budgeting processes of governmental agencies/entities.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership and other management teams.
  • Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET
  • 5 to 10 years of project/program management experience in contracting positions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical or scientific field such as Physics or Electrical Engineering. Masters preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or course work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Masters in Physics or Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of communications and radar systems.
  • Ability to work well with others in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated to continually expand knowledge and skills related to this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position involves work in an office and laboratory environment and could require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including:

  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection (varies based on tasks)
  • Shoe covers

Physical Demands

In performing the work for this position, the engineer must be able to:

  • Perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
  • Climb ladders and stairs in performing the work.
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Travel

Moderate domestic and international travel required.
