General Summary:

This position will serve as an advisor to the Quality, Labs, and machine shop to set up a Quality Parts Inspection system that will cover the inspection all materials and parts machined and fabricated from sheet metal, forging, extrusion, composite, etc. The QPI advisor will establish the methods of inspections and identify the parts which require inspection through use of precision measurement tools. This position will also advise how to document inspection results, rejects, and return of defective products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Serve as the primary inspection advisor for projects as assigned by management.
• Plan and execute various projects as assigned by the department management.
• May be asked to serve on internal ad hoc committees.
• establish quality standards for products.
• Read blueprints and specifications to ensure that operations meet customer standards.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify part quality.

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications

• US Citizenship required.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense Secret.
• High School Diploma or GED
• 10 years machinist or quality inspection experience
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret specifications and blueprints.

Preferred Qualifications

• Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET clearance
• BS in related field

WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS

This position involves work in an office and laboratory environment and could require the use of the following PPE:

• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection (varies based on tasks)
• Respirators
• Safety shoes

Physical Demands

In performing the work for this position, the employee must be able to:

• Perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
• Sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
• Stand for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
• Climb ladders and stairs in performing the work.
• Walk for reasonable distances in performing the work.

Travel

Minimal travel required.
