Description & Requirements
The Production Supervisor is the first step into the Oscar Mayer Kirksville plant leadership team and plays a key role in providing management and leadership to deliver business results and operational improvements. Under direction of the Business Unit Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing operations for an assigned area and shift.
The city of Kirksville is nestled in the Northeast corner of Missouri. The city population is approximately 18,000 and is home to some of the country’s best agricultural areas. We offer a low cost of living, great schools, a strong housing market, and the home to two University’s (ATSU and Truman). The Kirksville factory can offer you a great introductory point to jump-start your career. As a Lighthouse factory, we can offer a strong foundation to learn the ropes of Kraft Heinz and allow you to grow your career, either within Kirksville factory or one of our 32 other factories located across the US. We are a cruelty-free plant, have approximately 900 non-union employees, and produce some of your favorite Oscar Mayer products.
Primary Responsibilities
This role has responsibility to achieve productivity, efficiency, customer service, cost, quality, safety, and employee engagement objectives through both individual and team contributions. Provides direction, leadership, development, and support to direct reports through empowerment, teamwork, on-the-job assignments and continuous improvement projects and initiatives. Develops, implements, and promotes safety programs and safe work practices through involvement in plant safety teams, programs and initiatives. Promotes sound employee & labor relations within the department by developing and maintaining an effective organization with qualified personnel. Develops, promotes, and supports continuous improvement and other cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, engineering, business, operations management, or similar field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 2 years of manufacturing or operations experience preferred
- Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills - Proven front-line supervisory skills and ability to lead a team-based approach to decision-making
- Demonstrated planning and organization skills
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide array of plant personnel ranging from hourly employees to senior management
