KPIT is Hiring an Occupant Safety Engineer Near Novi, MI
Job DescriptionJob Summary:Occupant Safety Engineer to Work on Full Vehicle Crash and Occupant injury evaluation using ANSA, LSDyna, Animator CAE tools. Core Responsibilities:
Build and validate LS Dyna models.
Model integration using ANSA, Oasys Primer.
Use test data, supplier input, module team s inputs to update and validate models.
Execute simulations to evaluate full vehicle and sled level Occupant protection performance for frontal, side and rear impact.
Generate feasible vehicle design recommendations, working cross functionally with engineering teams.
Capable of integrating various restraint modules into structures CAE model in collaboration with tier-1 restraint system suppliers.
Expertise in seat belt routing, dummy positioning , seat squash and mechanism adjustments using state of art CAE as necessary to suit protocol and test setup requirements.
Create analysis reports and communicate program status to relevant teams.
Participate in post-test teardowns to correlate CAE results to physical tests.
Where appropriate, conduct DOE/DFSS studies by utilizing optimization tools, on vehicle designs to meet performance requirements within the constraints of conflicting attributes such cost and mass.
Support the creation of standard work procedures for delivering quality models and simulation results.
Lead/mentor junior engineers.
Other Responsibilities:
This position requires an experienced professional with a balanced approach to CAE and testing.
Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination.
5 years’ experience in Occupant Protection CAE working for an Automotive OEM or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of Global regulatory and consumer safety requirements: FMVSS / UNECE / China, USNCAP, IIHS, Euro NCAP, China NCAP etc.
Strong analytical skills to draw meaningful conclusions from CAE results.
Demonstrable experience of root causing test performance, and correlation of CAE models.
Demonstrable ability to concisely present technical issues, CAE results, findings and propose next steps.
Advanced user of tools such as: Ansa, LS-Dyna, Meta-post, Primer, Hyperworks etc.
Ability to process dummy test data sources for CAE correlation (ISO MME, Diadem, raw test data).
Knowledge of plastics and other typical trim material grades used in occupant environment with state of art CAE material model usage.
Experience with CATIA.
Requirements:
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
At least 5 years of working experience in Occupant Safety simulations projects.
Experience in live projects related to Occupant Safety System development and validation is an added advantage.
Mandatory: ANSA, Oasys Primer, LS DYNA, GNS Animator, Metapost.
