The Food Service Worker is responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of dishes, silverware, pots and pans; he/she helps set up and works on patient tray line, transports patient carts to and from nursing floors, puts away and rotates stock, and prepares and delivers floor stock to departments. He/she cleans up or assists with clean up of meetings and special functions. He/she is responsible for heavy cleaning in the department. The food service worker reports directly to the Kitchen Supervisor. This position has the responsibility for interacting with the following age groups: pediatric, adolescent through geriatric. The Food Service Worker is exposed to extremes in temperature, from walk-in freezers to hot electrical equipment. He/she works with sharp objects (ie. knives) and hazardous cleaning agents.
