The Role:

The Sr Electrical Engineer will be the subject matter expert of board designs, assembly and testing and will be the hardware designer of the TCM circuit card assembly design using Altium Designer.

Essential Functions:

• Perform circuit analysis and simulation using PSpice, LTSpice or similar programs.
• Generate design documentation using Altium of schematic, layouts for multi-layer boards and fabrication drawings, Bill of Materials, Prototyping, Testing and EMC compliance.
• Perform component placement and maintain integrity between components and circuit functions.
• Analyze and resolve design related issues in a timely manner.
• Work with project team in understanding circuit requirements and limitations.
• Prepare test procedures and develop test fixtures to verify circuit card functions.
• Create PCB footprints for the component library by interpreting manufacturer's data sheets.
• Work with outside vendors and design engineers to address questions and/or requests that arise during circuit card fabrication.
• Evaluate electronic components to ensure availability and suitability for designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• Experience using PCB design tools Altium Designer required and OrCAD Capture preferred.
• Experience in PCB layout tasks including part creation, design rule definition, routing and testing.
• Must be familiar with Printed Wiring Board fabrication, assembly, conformal coating, bonding, common failure modes, failure analyses to identify root cause and corrective actions.
• Strong understanding of how to design for PCBA manufacturing and assembly technologies, processes, and other DFM/DFA/DFT considerations.
• Experience with critical grounding design, low noise design and EMI/EMC and ESD compliance.
• Experience in Worst-case Circuit Analysis (WCA) using MathCAD for Thermal, Stress/Derating, Tolerances and MTBF Analysis.
• Must be capable of obtaining a DOD security clearance. 
• Good written and verbal communications.
• Must be available for domestic and foreign travel (less than 10%). 

Preferred Additional Skills:

• IPC Certified Interconnect designer qualifications: IPC CID and IPC CID .
• Strong understanding of Electronic Hardware design, schematics, and PCB design documentation.
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in developing PCB schematic and layout of multi-layer PCBs.
• Familiarity with both MIL-STD and commercial components.
• Experience in Hardware Architecture such as Power regulation, Communication interfaces e.g. CAN-Bus, I/O specifications and Debug.
• Experience in FPGA/ASIC design, debug and verification for powertrain electronics.
