The Role:
The Senior Director of Global Procurement will be responsible for building and leading the Procurement organization and proactively managing the company’s indirect spending. This role will serve as the strategic head of the Procurement team by establishing long-term and short-term objectives and strategies aligned with the company’s mission and overall strategic goals related to growth, cost savings, supply continuity, and risk management. Reporting to the Global Controller, the role will develop and execute a strategic vision for Procurement across the company and will elevate Procurement’s status by serving as a strategic partner/advisor to internal stakeholders and meeting and exceeding internal stakeholder expectations to earn the respect of senior leaders across the company.
In addition, the Senior Director of Global Procurement will be tasked with acting as a change agent, furthering the deployment of best-in-class procurement capabilities and governance structures where strategic sourcing is driven from a company-wide perspective. The role is expected to implement innovative improvements to Procurement procedures, processes, and systems to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to interface at all levels of the enterprise will help this person successfully manage any resistance and work through the challenges common with organizational change.
Responsibilities:
Collaborating with executives/internal stakeholders to establish Procurement strategies and objectives in both the long and short term
Elevating Procurement’s status as a strategic partner/advisor with Yahoo executives and internal stakeholders
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with critical suppliers as appropriate
Communicating strategies, priorities, goals, challenges, and results to executives and stakeholders
Leading strategic sourcing program that drives complex sourcing efforts and negotiating with strategically crucial suppliers
Partnering with the team to create advanced category strategies that plan for strategic sourcing, value engineering, and demand management opportunities
Implementing and championing continuous improvement for Procurement governance, procedures, processes, and systems
Hiring, developing, and retaining talent to build a best-in-class Procurement organization
Identifying opportunities to extract additional value/innovation from the supply base while considering performance management and risk management approaches.
Determining, presenting, and executing a procure-to-pay strategy to enable efficient requisitioning, ordering receipt, and payment operations
Assessing the current state of technology and determining how to maximize digital automation and other technological capabilities
Developing and implementing procurement procedures and guidelines, and assisting with establishing appropriate buying limits
Driving the implementation of a third-party risk management program and supporting the centralization of InfoSec, Privacy, and Compliance procedures at the Procurement level
Implementing supplier diversity program
Being responsible for supplier vetting and selection
Liaising with Legal to enable negotiation of contracts in an efficient and effective manner
Evaluating the performance of suppliers and providing feedback to internal and external stakeholders on performance and optimization opportunities
Contributing procurement performance targets as part of annual budgetary cycle and providing regular performance updates. Providing department budget recommendations and establishing controls to assure optimum deployment of resources within the approved budget
Being responsible for assessing strategic supplier counterparty risk exposure, and where appropriate ensuring mitigating plans and actions are in place
15 years of experience in Procurement or equivalent industry/subject matter expertise.
Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA is desired (but not required)
Demonstrated top performance in prior role(s) with increasing levels of responsibility
Demonstrated management capabilities, especially related to leading strategic initiatives, driving performance, leading change efforts, and producing superior results through internal stakeholder collaboration
Demonstrated experience managing large, diverse teams and resources
Track record of transforming and/or leading the continuous improvement of strategic sourcing and category management programs
Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, develop, and retain top talent; a recognized leader and natural mentor
Knowledge of Oracle ERP and overall procurement solutions landscape including contract management, P2P, spend analytics, sourcing execution, vendor performance/risk management, etc.
