The Role:

The VP of Sales will direct overall sales growth and profitably by establishing processes, procedures, and operating methods. The VP of Sales will accelerate market penetration of new and existing products while keeping abreast of developments from our competitors.

Drive effective sales and marketing strategies

  • Monitors and reports actual sales against sales goals monthly
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.
  • Crafts a creative approach with sales and marketing consultants to generate new business leads through direct marketing campaigns, promotional offers, educational seminars and /or B2B events.
  • Develops and recommends market positioning, communications, and target strategy to produce the highest possible overall market share.
  • Defines and identifies key future market opportunities by geography, segment and product and assigns territories to staff.
  • Manages both internal and external communications to promote the brand, ensuring all external communications educate, pique interest and grow client revenue while strengthening client relationships.
  • Develops and executes custom client promotions that drive consumer traffic, provide customer databases, support events, client outreach, and acquisition.

Customer engagement and support

  • Incorporates customer needs and expectations into daily operations and business planning strategies.
  • Collaborates with all customer groups (internal and external customers) to determine customer expectations.
  • In conjunction with staff evaluate customer satisfaction on a regular basis to determine customer expectations.

Data driven response

  • Use benchmark data from internal and external sources to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Identifies and takes actions to resolve ineffective processes in collaboration with staff.
  • Identifies opportunities to integrate evidence-based practice/research findings into policy and practice guidelines.
  • Seeks market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Develop and measure key metrics around the business including user acquisition, conversion rates, engagement rates and satisfaction rates.

People Management

  • Hires, trains, develops and creates a positive work environment that stimulates sales and marketing creativity and fosters a strong team environment for staff members.
  • Identifies talent/contribution of staff and establishes an informal plan for succession.
  • Negotiates toward optimal resolution of issues alerting human resources of potentially serious issues.
  • Recommend and/or initiate salary, disciplinary, or other staffing/human resources-related actions in accordance with Company rules and policies.

Leadership and professional development

  • Serves as a mentor to staff in problem solving, decision making and planning activities.
  • Demonstrates accountability and responsibility by independently completing projects/assignments on time holding self and others accountable for meeting objectives and adhering to standards.
  • Collaborates with Direct Reports to assure they have a personal/professional growth and development plan to enhance knowledge, competencies, and professional practice.
  • Pursues opportunities for personal growth and development through meetings and educational programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred

Minimum Experience Required:

  • 10 years of experience in Sales and Marketing
  • 5 years of related management experience
  • Experience and success in recruiting and retaining a high-performance sales team
  • Proven business analysis and judgment with the ability to proactively manage business to meet objectives.
  • Previous sales experience in the education, e-learning, publishing or Ed-Tech required

Required Skills:

  • Persuasive and goal-oriented
  • Outstanding organizational abilities with adaptive and collaborative mindset
  • Proficient in MS Office or similar software/Working knowledge of IT and marketing software (e.g., CRM, SalesForce etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses an energetic, outgoing, and friendly demeanor
  • Strong negotiation skills and aptitude for problem solving
