The Quality Engineer will support existing quality systems and identify opportunities to improve or reinvent processes to strengthen quality and minimize the costs of non-conformance (scrap, rework, etc.). Follow up to customer requirements and non-conformities until resolution and make sure that the applicable EQMS/ISO/Customer specific requirements are been followed in the area are primary functions for this position

 

In this function you will:

  • Serve as a Customer and Supplier Liaison. Has responsibility and authority to ensure that customer requirements are addressed. This includes selection of special characteristics, and related training, corrective and preventive actions. Conducts relevant research and failure analyses that can provide solutions to manufacturing problems. Prepares professional reports and presentations to support internal improvement and customer needs. Make sure that the Quality rules of engagement and Quality standards are been followed in all applicable processes to maintain the health of the QMS in the organization.
  • Establish in together with other functions such as Operations/Manufacturing/Materials the appropriate containment for issues found in the process or with customers, this may include establish the risk window, choose of the method of inspection and/or pass/fail criteria
  • Support all quality systems and functions, such as Machine Capabilities; Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis Plans, SPC, Receiving Inspection, Tool Inspection, Subcontractor Development, PPAPs, Corrective Actions, PFMEA and customer contact activities.
  • Help drive continuous improvement and activities related to minimizing the costs of non-conformance and improved customer satisfaction.
  • Work directly with other Quality Personnel, Manufacturing Engineering, Line Maintenance, and Leadership Team members to problem solve and correct production and quality-related issues and implement corrective actions to eliminate Quality problems.
  • Work with Quality Manager/Asst. Quality Manager to ensure support of quality systems for Kearney Plant.
  • Serve as support for TS16949 plant certification process and on-going TS16949 issues and comply with TS16949 and MESH requirements
  • Determine, develop and monitor inspection techniques and gauging to meet design requirements, including new product releases and current products through production and customer requirements knowledge. Participate on PROLaunch teams.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and suppliers to improve manufacturing process and develop methods to eliminate quality problems. Identify continuous improvement ideas utilizing lean tools.

Requirements

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience as a Quality Engineer, preferably in an automotive supplier organization.
  • Knowledge of ISO/TS 16949 certification and auditing experience
  • Experience and knowledge with APQP, SPC, MSA, and GD&T
  • Prior experience working with root-cause methodology and process improvement
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing setting.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt in DMAIC Process.

 

Position Criteria:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude of quality systems. Required working knowledge and experience with computers, preferably with Microsoft WINDOWS applications.
  • Strong computer skills in Computer Aided Drafting techniques and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with little direction, and function in a team-oriented environment
  • Working knowledge of hand tools, diagrams, blue prints, schematics, gauges, and measuring instruments.
