The Role:

The Manager of Production Planning and Control will lead a team of four in support these development programs from proposal through delivery. The successful candidate must be able to:
Manage and transform the production planning/control team by developing and implementing a structure that best meet the needs of customers
Develop and maintain metrics that measure success and failure to customers’ needs
Perform ad hoc root cause analysis on missed metrics or process escapes, develop and implement preventative actions
Balance the tactical and strategic demands of production planning and control to meet both the tactical needs with the longer term improvement projects
Coordinate effectively with internal customers and suppliers to drive improvement within the organization
Effectively expand the ERP system to drive more automation within the operation
Effectively lead in a matrixed environment with several different customers
Develop employees effectively to promote to the next level
Essential Functions:
Drive a Safety and Quality first culture on the production planning/control team, and across the Operations organization with your peers on the Operations Management Team.
Work with program management, engineering, and operations in a production environment to meet production/ program goals
Oversee all production control related including planning, scheduling, coordinating operational activities from final approval of product design through the complete production cycle to meet production requirements by ensuring availability of materials and labor to meet delivery commitments.
Also owns and manages as government/customer property control program, internal property control program, and calibration planning to specific goals
Drive a culture of data-based actions; use existing data/develop tools to create actionable information to drive improvement.
Develop capability of the production planning/control team; grow technical skills, as well as project management and facilitation skills.
Drives expansion of MRP and ERP functionality to improve visibility and better control production
Provides on site management to stockroom and shipping/receiving staff.
Focused on constantly improving efficiency of processes utilizing automation and strategies from Lean Manufacturing
Supports bids by providing manpower estimates for the execution of the program
Head the effort to develop strategies that optimize and monitor manufacturing process design, development and QA/validation efforts from early product development through product launch monitor.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
9 years’ experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
2 years’ experience with ERP/MRP systems.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering, Science, Business, or related discipline.
Proven success and results in driving improvements in cost, quality and efficiency in manufacturing environments
Experience as a ERP/MRP super user
Demonstrated experience leading and transforming teams.
Strong ERP/MRP skills and the ability to think systemically
Strong coaching and employee development skills
Knowledge and experience with Lean and 6 Sigma tools such as 5S, value stream mapping, Kaizen, process control, root cause analysis, etc. Dedicated to continuous improvement
Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly identify efficient solutions to problems
The ability to communicate cross functionally with various levels of leadership
Project Management skills and the ability to organize and manage multiple products through manufacturing process simultaneously
Quality orientation and high attention to detail
Effectively work with vendors, customers and various internal departments
