The function of the Treating Operator is to set up, operate and perform all duties associated with the operation of the treating unit.
- PPE Requirement: Safety Shoes, Safety glasses, Hearing Protection, Gloves
- Kevlar Gloves when cutting
- Hard hat (on clean up days)
- Dust mask (when cleaning ovens)
- Open greige roll and inspect for any visible defects, broken cords, loose selvages, damaged tabby or any defect that impact the operation of the treating unit.
- Compare greige ticket roll number and code with identification on tabby, verifying that number and code match. Also yellow ticket on side of the roll needs to match.
- Assign greige roll a treating ticket, stamp appropriate treated code number and place in plastic pouch.
- Log information on the let-off report.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds with no assistance.
- Place roll in let-off stand and monitor greige fabric coming off roll and in let-off accumulator and visually check nip roll to ensure it is closed.
- Prepare splice following established procedures.
- Monitor and observe fabric while patrolling area.
- Transfer next roll to wind up station. Record treated yardage and weight for each completed roll on ticket and wind-up report.
- Notify supervisor if adjustments or corrections are required to prevent splitting fabric.
- Remove roll from Zell table with assistance from wind-up operator. Follow established procedures and prepare sample for lab technician.
- Let-off operator will Place roll on wrap table and assist wrap table operator as required.
- Patrol and monitor first floor of treating unit from 1101 dip station through #3 pull stand to the Zell.
- Maintain wind-up production report, logging any defects according to type, yardage, description and place tag in roll at defect.
- Will keep701 head cleaned as needed to continue quality fabric.
- Monitor 701 dip level and report any problems to supervisor.
- Notify supervisor of any quality problems with rolls or any variation to specifications.
- Operate Zell winder according to established procedures.
- Assist let-off operator with process.
- Assist let-off operator in opening greige rolls and making splice.
- Follow splice until it goes through 1101 dip station, watching for folds and/or spreader malfunction.
- Inspect and wrap rolls from treating unit and reroll machine according to established procedures and transfer to triax for storage.
- Observe fabric at let-up when operator is assisting the wind-up operator.
- Assist wind-up operator with start-up and change overs.
- Perform all tasks in a safe manner.
- Follow pens through the unit when there are folds or other fabric issues.
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
- Work Keys Assessment Mandatory with Level 3 Minimum Score
