Koniag Management Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Azure Commercial Security Engineer to support the dynamic and fast paced Cloud Program Management Office at the Department of State (DOS). This position is REMOTE.

In the Sr Security Engineer position, you will help design, deploy, and operate cybersecurity features and tools related to the Azure platform offering. As part of product design and development, you will perform alternatives analysis, system design, process automation and other consulting, and tool configuration support. You will also monitor systems for security issues and incidents and coordinate incident response. The Sr Security Engineer should be familiar with the Azure Commercial architecture and design including associated services and how to support customer’s business needs within the cloud environment in a secure manner. This position will leverage and build your technical expertise to create new solutions, solve problems and manage security risk of systems and applications in the cloud.
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in system design and implementation through agile sprints to develop and deploy advanced cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Administer security tools and rule configurations; update and adjust them for new releases.
  • Provide cybersecurity engineering and consulting to assist in onboarding customers to cloud platforms.
  • Perform security impact and risk assessment of changes proposed to these systems.
  • Monitor platform level network changes, analyze impact, and provide appropriate technical solutions to resolve issues efficiently.
  • As needed, assist with other cloud service offerings such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure security / Ability to recommend best practices and assess current posture.
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure security capabilities
  • Ability to create / verify Azure policies.
  • Ability to create / verify RBAC roles.
  • Familiar with JSON for azure roles/policies creation via PowerShell / azure arm templates
  • Create / Maintain / Report on security documentation.
  • Knowledge of ATO and FedRAMP
Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in security engineering or security operations, including at least 1 year working on Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiar with design and implementation of monitoring capabilities for various stakeholders (e.g., developers, business owners, security, and infrastructure)
  • Have a deep understanding of API Security, Container Security, Cloud Security
  • Familiar with cloud security plans that implement systems and procedures to effectively secure information, infrastructure, intellectual property, and users against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure.
  • Ability to analyze cloud services that are offered on a platform, to include third party services
  • Experience working with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, FISMA, DHS and DoD policies
  • Familiarity with infrastructure components (VMs, Security Products, Network ports and protocols, Databases, Middleware and open-source code) to support DevOps in an enterprise environment to build, maintain and sustain an enterprise information technology DevOps operational model.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; technical and business focused, with the ability to document and describe security processes and data.
  • Customer-service oriented with a desire to continuously learn and take on new challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and function as an integral part of the team.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to shift focus to accommodate changes in business and client priorities.
Desired Skills/Experience:
  • One or more active security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCISSP, CEH, CISM, CISA, Cloud , CCSP)
  • Cloud-related certifications
Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain an Active Secret clearance or higher
Working Environment & Conditions
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
