Environment, Health and Safety Plant Engineer

BASIC FUNCTION
The EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Plant Engineer role Identify,develop and participate in the implementation of environmental, health andsafety (EHS) programs and related projects through risk identification, workingwith management, associate teams and EHS staff to promote significant EHSimprovements at the site.  EHS Plant Engineer additionalresponsibilities include the evaluation of new safety equipment, improving andexpanding upon existing EHS programs, and continued development of safetyawareness.

Specific Responsibilities

• Maintain and apply knowledge of current health and safety policies, regulations and industrial processes
• Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure that they meet safety requirements
• Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment
• Evaluate the effectiveness of controls
• Ensures that the buildings, processes and products comply with health and safety regulations, especially after an inspection that required changes
• Install safety devices on machinery or direct the installation of these devices
• Investigate industrial incidents (RCA) to determine their causes and to prevent reoccurrence
• Evaluate corrective action made to remedy violations (e.g., internal audits, OSHA, etc.)
• Identify and coordinate safety improvement plans ensuring the continuous improvement of safety in new or existing products, processes, and procedures.
• Maintain all OSHA required programs, training, logs, records and reports.
• Coordinate EHS Training Programs for upper management, supervision, hourly associates, etc.
• Manage the return to work and light duty programs.
• Conduct risk and hazard analysis for critical positions. Maintain statistical analysis of associate accidents and injuries to target specific areas for Risk Assessment and Job Hazard Analysis.
• Provide monthly safety reviews and targeted compliance audits. Present report on compliance status and any corrective actions.
• Implement safety related capital projects, including the evaluation, justification, ACT preparation and follow-up.
• Understand and communicate pertinent EHS government regulations, Kohler EHS standards and best practices to management and associates.
• Lead and/or facilitate EHS Awareness Programs, EHS events and Ergonomic Teams.
