SUMMARY:

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for managing all daily Clubhouse services throughout all dining and kitchen areas, front of house, back of house, Member Services, Hale Club, Adventure Team, and K-Kids, and assuring that the wants and needs of the club members are consistently exceeded. Provide for a cohesive environment bringing together all divisions of operations. Plan and implement budgets, hire, train, and supervise team members. Deliver the “Kohanaiki Way” on a consistent basis, lead by example and strive to always exceed expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with the Vice President of Operations to manage and oversee the club’s Food and Beverage, Hale Club, Member Services, Adventure Team, and K-Kids offerings working closely with department managers to ensure a positive, efficient, and cohesive work environment.
  • Monitors and takes corrective action on Clubs operating budget, as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.
  • Assures that all standard operating procedures for revenue and cost control are in place and consistently utilized.
  • Increase levels of food service quality and enhance overall ambiance of member dining experiences.
  • Helps plan and approves internal marketing promotion activities for the food and beverage department.
  • Works with the Vice President of Operations to ensure integration and coordination of all social events.
  • Attends monthly planning, and Finance meetings with department heads
  • Manages the staffing needs of departments.
  • Works with the Vice President of Operations to oversee the overall operation of the Clubhouse.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training for new staff and professional development activities for experienced staff are planned and implemented.
  • Inspects to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards are consistently met.
  • Establishes quantity and quality output standards for personnel in all positions within the department.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for food and beverage departments.
  • Assists in planning and implementing procedures for special club events.
  • Greets members and oversees actual service on a routine, random basis.
  • With the Master Sommelier, helps develop wine lists and bottle/glass wine sales promotion programs.
  • Addresses member and guest complaints and advises the Vice President of Operations about appropriate corrective actions taken.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain standard operating procedures, training manuals, and checklists.
  • Assist the Vice President of Operations in developing and implementing long-range (strategic) and annual (business) plans and operational reports.
  • Respond to any questions, needs and desires of members and guests & anticipate the unstated desires, and follow up with guests to ensure requests have been met to their satisfaction.
  • Promote all amenities and programs offered at Kohanaiki.
  • Attend all staff and management meetings.
  • Serve as a club representative within the community.
  • Monitor internal cost control procedures.
  • Develops new and innovative ways in which to stimulate member activities and participation in Club events.
  • Maintains appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all food and beverage equipment and facilities.
  • Approve all product invoices before submitting to the accounting department.
  • Maintains records of special events, house counts, food covers and daily business volumes.
  • Works with other department heads on special projects assigned by the Vice President of Operations. 

 ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interview, select, train, supervise, counsel and discipline all service employees in each of the departments listed: Food & Beverage, Member Services, Adventure Team, K-Kids.
  • Develops on-going professional development and training programs for service staff.
  • Ensures that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to including wage and hour and federal, state and/or local laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages.
  • Ensure that all services to members are conducted in a highly professional manner.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and attitude on the part of all employees in areas of responsibilities.

 GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven working experience (2-5 years) at an executive level at a high-end private club or resort.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university or college is highly desirable, preferably in Hospitality Management; although relevant high-end private club or hospitality management experience may be considered.
  • Strong food and beverage, boutique resort, and private club experience preferred.
  • Passionate leader that aspires to progress to a General Manager role; looking to improve themselves each day by encompassing a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and leadership by example.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team into high performance with a successful track record of building revenues, controlling costs, maximizing efficiencies, and meeting or exceeding planned and budgeted bottom line goals and objectives.
  • Desire to continuously monitor industry trends, new products, and services to regularly elevate club standards and offerings.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills along with outstanding communication (both written and oral) and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule and accommodating long hours/work weeks during peak periods of business.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.

 SALARY: The club will offer a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience including 401K (after first year of employment), medical, vision, dental, and a typical CMAA benefits and incentive package.
