Position Summary:

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is accountable for receiving products from vendors and ensuring systems are updated with proper inventory information. Ensure all customer orders are shipped in an accurate, timely, and cost-effective manner. Ensure measures are taken to protect products from damage and deterioration during handling, storage, packaging, and delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receiving

  • Properly account for the location of incoming goods
  • Note any damaged items received and work with Purchasing on replacements
  • Compare packing lists to company purchase orders and ensuring that the products in each delivery match the packing list
  • Properly mark boxes for storage
  • Update the product inventory as products are received and place items in warehouse product designations

Shipping

  • Packs and boxes outgoing customer orders. Checks shipments against the packing list to ensure they are accurate and complete.
  • Creates shipments using shipping software
  • Stocks incoming inventory from Kitting, and rotates stock as needed using FIFO policies.
  • Performs data entry to maintain accurate and current inventory locations
  • Assist with performing cycle counts of existing inventory to verify the inventory accuracy
  • Assists the Kitting department and Manufacturing department when the workload is needed
  • Ensures the maximum utilization of warehouse storage
  • Manages inventory accuracy, product condition, storage, and disposal
  • Maintains warehouse space in a clean and orderly fashion, following the 5S process
  • Other duties and assignments as delegated

Key Accountabilities

Daily:

Inspect and receive incoming products

Update Inventory in product database

Match purchase order to received goods

Doublecheck purchase order and invoice for matching

Process orders according to the dispatch list

Print labels and apply them to products and packaging so that they remain legible and affixed during the customary condition of transportation

Ensure products are protected before and, where required during delivery

Ensure packaging is suitable to protect the product in transit until Kodo’s responsibility ceases, and the product is delivered

Identification and removal of any item where the integrity of the packaging or item is in question

Accept materials from kitting and move them to the appropriate storage area in the warehouse and place them at the back of the bin (where applicable) to allow for First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory management.

Load/Unload carrier trucks for pick-ups and deliveries

Generate an atmosphere and culture of collaboration, team harmony, hard work, organization, and safety.

Weekly:

Perform inventory cycle counts

Monthly:

Observe areas of improvement and communicate to the Shipping manager suggestions for improvements

Immediately as required:

Identify safety issues and report

Working Conditions: Encountered regularly as part of the work this job performs.

· Use of standard office equipment such as computer, keyboard, telephone, and copier

· Must be able to safely operate a pallet jack and lift equipment to stock and dispatch inventory

· Ability to climb and balance to use a ladder to manage inventory

· Working in high precarious places

· Ability to stoop, kneel squat, bend crouch or crawl and reach with hands or to stock and dispatch inventory

· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds to stock and issue inventory

· Close vision, Distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision to manage inventory, maintain, warehouse safety, and perform computer work

· Noise level exposure can be moderate to loud at times

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Full-Time 40 hour work week.

Skills/Knowledge:

● Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

● One year of experience in a general warehouse.

● Hands on experience in cycle counting, material handling and receiving processes

● Inventory control experience is a plus.

Desirable Characteristics:

● Strong organizational skills

● Multitasker

● Working knowledge of computer applications such as email, word and excel documents

● Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
