Job Description

As a Millwright, you will be primarily responsible for disassembling and assembling precise large mechanical assemblies. You will have frequent opportunities to earn overtime pay. Reporting to the Millwright Lead, the Industrial Maintenance Millwright is a full-time position, responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting, and repairing equipment while following safety rules and regulations. You will be required to maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures. You work as part of a team but would routinely perform work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and safety while performing your duties

Specific Tasks

  • Handling materials using a lift truck and crane
  • Disassembling large mechanical assemblies
  • Cleaning components
  • Inspecting the visual condition of parts and sizes using measuring equipment. Recording results on a proper strip report form.
  • Putting together mechanical assemblies which may include bearings, housings, seals water piping, grease fittings, etc.
  • Testing assemblies
  • Painting product
  • Marking/labeling finished products
  • Reading blueprints and following work instructions

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Proficient in the installation, maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting of steam turbines, gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, generators, speed increasing/reduction gears, couplings, hydraulics, and shaft alignment a must.
  • Ability to take precision measurements and attention to detail required.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, machine shop operations, precision machinery alignment techniques.
  • Ability to work with operations and maintenance on repairs to equipment that include but are not limited to replacement of mechanical seals, installation and alignment of rotating equipment, repairs to fans and blowers, repairs to reciprocating, centrifugal and screw compressors and pumps, basic knowledge of rigging and flagging.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to construction equipment and machinery.
  • Dismantle equipment when required for repair or transportation and reassemble it at the appropriate time.
  • Move equipment to appropriate site for repair or maintenance to avoid contamination or workplace safety hazards.
  • Create solid foundations for machines on-site and instruct other construction workers about safe and efficient interaction with machinery and equipment.
  • Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation.
  • Grind and file machinery parts both on-site and in controlled circumstances.
  • Experience using PLC’s is an asset.
  • Experience of MiG and Stick welding.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to lift to 50 pounds
  • Must be a safety-minded individual with an understanding of Job Safety Analysis and Stop Work Authority.
  • Must be willing to participate in a written test and hands on interview process.

Experience

  • Relevant: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Millwright: 5 years (Preferred)

Other Skills

  • Work Multiple Flexible schedules as needed to meet customer requirements
  • All other responsibilities deemed necessary by Management

Traits Needed

Candidates should display an exceptional work ethic and either possess or be willing to learn the tasks listed above. Previous job experience requiring a mechanical aptitude, such as an auto mechanic, would be beneficial. Employees hired into this position, who excel at the associated technical skills, will be considered for advancement into machining and/or other assembly positions.
