Purpose:

The Translator will, in an effort to facilitate communication at KAAP, provide timely and accurate translation of documents from both Japanese and English as well as accurate interpreting in various contexts such as one on one informal meetings, production floor interactions, internal meetings and meetings with customers and vendors. In addition, the Translator will control and maintain records for all translation/interpretation requests in internal databases. The Translator will also provide backup for expatriate support responsibilities, such as community interpreting, on-boarding/off-boarding, as well as assisting with living and travel arrangements for the company’s Japanese expats.

General Duties:

Primary:

• Onsite interpretation (Production floor/meetings)
• Document Translation (Japanese to English / English to Japanese)
• Control databases with records of all translation/interpretation requests

Secondary/Backup

• Onboarding/Offboarding including hotel, shuttle, apartment arrangements, etc.
• Assisting with expats’ visa/passport, etc.
• Medical interpretation
• Distribution of expat mail
• Other community interpretation/translation upon request

Skills:

• Japanese and English Proficiency (speaking, listening, reading, writing [handwriting not required])
• Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel)
• Ability to write emails in Japanese and English using proper business etiquette in both contexts
• Good organizational skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred
