Knox Pet Clinic is Hiring a Kennel Assistant & Customer Service Representative Near Galesburg, IL

We are looking for a Full-Time Kennel Assistant/Customer Service Rep. to join our team! This team member is responsible for providing the daily care of our boarding pets, and will be the first face that clients see when entering our Knox Pet Clinic Salon & Boarding.

This position will include both Kennel Assistant and Receptionist duties. Including, but not limited to, feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, and monitoring the wellbeing of dogs and cats staying with us, answering the phone, scheduling appointments, greeting clients, admitting and checking-out pets, processing payments, managing financial information, and communicating information between clients and other staff.

  • Understand our services and recommendations and clearly communicate them to clients.
  • Maintain the sanitation of the facility by keeping the kennel area and grounds clean and odor-free.
  • Remain compassionate and well-mannered if a client becomes emotional or discourteous.
  • Monitor pets for signs of distress or disease
  • Remain calm and collected in the face of emergency situations.

Ultimately, this member of our team will not only be the first and last impression our clients get, but they will also be the "behind the scenes" caregivers for their family members. This position requires a strong love of animals and the ability to warmly welcome and compassionately care for a wide variety of pets.

Qualifications

  • Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, Customer Service Representative (Receptionist) duties, telephone techniques, and general computer skills
  • Ability to perform clerical work with speed and accuracy, such as using a multiple-line telephone system, handling cash, and reconciling transactions
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision
  • Ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • A commitment to outstanding client service
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing more than 40 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to stay on task and work energetically for entire shift
  • Preferred: Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
  • Preferred: Experience assembling and obtaining patient records
  • Preferred: Two years’ recent experience with pet boarding/animal care

Shifts Available

  • Monday to Friday
  • Every other Weekend
  • Day shift
  • Late evening shift (9:00pm and/or later)
