Position Description

Title: Behavioral Health Clinician II
Department: Social Services
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor/Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Health Clinician II at the Benteh Wellness Center (BWC) plays a pivotal role in delivering clinical interventions to participants, which are tailored to their unique needs while maintaining the Knik
Tribe's Core Values for Treatment. This position offers a challenging work environment and is designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences. Progression between job levels is based on an individual's licensure, certification/training, and years of experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will:

  • Establish, foster and maintain positive, culturally sensitive connections with coworkers, participants, and the community.
  • Provide clinical services to clients: Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide individual and group therapy sessions to clients in accordance with clinical standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate care: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate client care and ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain clinical documentation: Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation of client treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documents, in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in program development: Assist in the development and implementation of new programs or initiatives aimed at improving the quality of care and outcomes for clients.
  • Conduct outreach: Engage in community outreach and education activities to promote behavioral health services and increase community awareness of mental health issues.
  • Maintain professional development: Keep up-to-date with best practices, research, and trends in the field through ongoing training and continuing education.
  • Ensure compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, as well as clinic policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities: Participate in quality improvement activities to assess and improve the effectiveness of clinical services.
  • Maintain ethical standards: Adhere to ethical standards and principles of the profession, including maintaining client confidentiality and upholding professional boundaries.
  • Share and receive information, opinions, concerns, and feedback in a supportive manner.
  • Ensure confidentiality according to HIPAA and other related privacy laws.
  • Collaborate with the Treatment Team (e.g., Behavioral Health Aides and Case Managers) to develop treatment plans for participants.
  • Assess and provide treatment for a wide range of DSM-V diagnoses using individual, group, and family modalities.
  • Attend and participate in weekly individual and team supervision meetings with the Clinical

Director.

  • Communicate information effectively and promptly to team members and community partners, both in-person and in-writing, regarding participant needs and update the Treatment Team regarding participant status in the program.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the privacy of individuals in compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974 and the Health

Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

  • Develop and maintain a tracking system for the status of various actions and correspondence.
  • Utilize computer-based tasks and electronic health record systems.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, executives, board of directors, tribal members, and other individuals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time: May need to sit or stand for extended periods of time while conducting assessments, providing therapy sessions, or completing paperwork.
  • Lifting and carrying: May need to lift and carry equipment, files, or other materials as part of their job responsibilities.
  • Manual dexterity: May need to use their hands to type, write, or manipulate small objects, such as therapy materials or instruments.
  • Visual acuity: May need to have good vision to read client files, complete paperwork, and observe client behaviors.
  • Hearing: May need to have good hearing to listen to clients, colleagues, and other professionals.
  • Mobility: May need to move around the clinic to attend meetings, collaborate with colleagues, or provide services in different locations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education:
  • Master’s degree in behavioral health field including Counseling, Psychology or Social

Work; OR PhD/PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or other related fields.

  • Experience:
  • Two (2) years of supervised clinical work experience for Master’s level Behavioral Health;

OR two (2) years of post-graduate clinical experience for PhD or PsyD level;

  • Current Alaska Clinical Licensure in designated field.
  • Additional certifications/trainings (CPP, EMDR, DBT, etc.) is preferred.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Knowledge and experience of Knik Tribe’s Service Area and Knik Tribe’s Programs.
  • Adequate understanding with all Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Capable of basic maintenance for general office equipment and multi-line phone systems.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and free of barrier crimes.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Knowledge and application of professional and ethical conduct as guided by Knik Tribal Council

Personnel Manual Section 8.1.

  • If employee is hired as a Clinician II, the employee may be eligible for a 10% sign on bonus. As part of this bonus, it is required that the employee stays with Knik Tribe for at least two years of hire date. If employee leaves prior to one (1) year, the sign on bonus must be returned. If the employee leaves between year one (1) and two (2), then ½ the bonus will need to be returned.

Knik Tribe practices Native preference per Public Law 93.638, with the following priority: Knik Tribe members, Alaska Natives, Native Americans.

Pay: $72,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
