Description

The Precast Crane Operator is responsible for operating equipment to move precast panels and other materials throughout the yard. This person must have a strong background in the operation of heavy equipment, overhead cranes, forklifts, etc. This position works outdoors year-round, subject to all weather elements and temperatures.

Essential Functions:

• Operates various types of heavy equipment to move materials and load/unlock trucks.
• Inspects and maintains equipment in accordance with policies and procedures
• Practices proper housekeeping with clean, properly maintained tools and equipment
• Maintains compliance with all safety requirements, policies, and procedures
• Completes and maintains all required safety training and certifications 
• Lifts forms, cages, and finished products throughout the plant as the daily cycle of production requires using a cab bridge crane, remote control bridge crane, travel lift, and/or jib crane Requirements Ability to perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance duties (lubrication, cleaning) 
• Able to communicate effectively with team members as well as record and understand numerical values 
• Able to understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division) to the extent of determining the weight of items to be lifted 
• Excellent depth perception and coordination 
• Experience working in a precast manufacturing plant (preferred) Physical Environment 
• Lifting may be required with assistance provided if needed 
• Ability to stand regularly, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms 
• Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions 
• Ability to sit in bridge crane for extended periods of time

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment, including overhead cranes, Mi-Jacks and/or forklifts.
• At least 3 years’ experience operating bridge crane with at least 15-ton capacity 
• High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 
• Dependable and consistent attendance/punctuality 
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and write 
• Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail 
• Demonstrated initiative to proactively seek out work and complete tasks 
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to lead, manage and motivate staff
• Prior supervisory experience.
• Prior experience in concrete industry.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Ability to work in extreme weather, including but not limited to high heat, low temperature, and high sun environments.
• Ability to operate tools required to complete construction projects.
• Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and kneel as required to construct forms.
