SUMMARY

1. The Roving Operator is responsible to the Control Room Operator for the operation and maintenance of
2. boilers, chillers, pumps, turbines, air compressors and mechanical equipment which provide utilities for
3. buildings or industrial processes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for operation of all site utility equipment to include but not limited to steam boilers, turbines, generators, motors, chillers, air compressors.
2. Responsible for logging data, such as temperature, pressure, hours of operation, fuel consumed, temperature or pressure, water levels, analysis of flue gases
3. Responsible for monitoring, logging and correcting alarming conditions or out of specification readings
4. Make sure that all the equipment that he is in charge is maintained on a regular basis
5. Adjust controls and valves on equipment to provide power and regulate and set operations of system and industrial processes
6. Services, repairs, adjusts, and tests machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical not electronic principles
7. Uses either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes, not including computers or vehicles
8. Oil and lubricate equipment
9. Perform chemical analysis and take corrective actions to maintains specifications
10. Responsible for periodic inspections of equipment and minor repairs to such equipment; perform preventive maintenance and maintain records of repairs
11. Maintain cleanliness of workstation and areas of control
12. Assist the Maintenance Department and performs other duties as needed
13. Reading dials, gauges, and manuals.
14. Communicate condition of equipment and status of jobs to control room operator
15. Complete all necessary documentation as described under company guidelines. Must comply with all company safety rules and policies

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. High school graduate or GED
2. Valid Driver’s License 
3. Mechanical skills 
4. Boiler operator license, or able to obtain 
5. Experience with SCADA/DCS controls 
6. Organization and planning 
7. Customer service skills 
8. Attention to detail 
9. Physical ability to perform non-technical job requirements, constant walking, the ability to lift and pull and perform work in adverse weather conditions 
10. Communication skills (verbal, written) and to gather feedback and get clarity on miscellaneous job duties. Prompt attention to sending and responding to email messages
11. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is occasionally required to lift, carry (up to 45 pounds), stoop, bend, kneel, climb, crawl, push, pull or perform other physical activities
