SALARY $91,419.00 - $104,207.00 USD Annually

EDUCATION ACCREDITATION: Applicant's education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.

PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.

A Community Health Nurse Supervisor I oversees nursing activities for community based health programs. Work of this class involves supervising community health nurses, health aides and office support personnel.

Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed primarily in an office where there are no uncomfortable environmental conditions; however incumbents are required to make visits to field sites where illness, disease or stressful situations may be encountered. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

SELECTION PROCESS

The training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. It is essential, therefore, that you give complete and accurate information on your application. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

On or before the date of filing the application must:

EDUCATION: Have a bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.

AND

EXPERIENCE: Have four years of experience as a registered nurse, two of which must have been in community health nursing.

OR

NOTE (EQUIVALENCIES): Applicants may have a master's degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university to substitute for one year of the experience requirement.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS: Have current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or Registered Nurse licensure from a Multi-State Licensure Compact participant state is required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Knowledge of nursing theory, process, practices and procedures.

* Knowledge of professional nursing standards.

* Knowledge of community health resources and agencies.

* Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate community health programs.

* Ability to supervise clinics and other organized patient care settings.

* Ability to develop and conduct in-service training programs.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.

* Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

* Supervisory ability.

EXAMINATION PROCESS
