SALARY $81,574.00 - $126,625.00 Annually
EDUCATION ACCREDITATION: Applicant’s education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
A WWW Construction Project Supervisor I oversees the scheduling and inspection of one or more major construction projects and expedites the completion of contracted construction for the Bureau of Water and Waste Water. Work of this class involves supervising inspection personnel.
Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office and at construction sites where there is occasional exposure to noise, hazardous equipment and extremes of weather. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
SELECTION PROCESS
All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their applications will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. It is essential, therefore, that you give complete and accurate information on your application. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
EDUCATION: Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have 3 years of experience in construction inspection, construction supervision, construction engineering or weatherization, energy conservation work.
OR
EQUIVALENCIES: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES: A valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of construction methods, scheduling and materials.
  • Knowledge of inspection methods.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Ability to deal effectively with contractors, engineers, architects and representatives of utility companies and government agencies.
  • Ability to interpret and explain City contract procedures.
  • Supervisory ability.
  • Ability to utilize the computer and business software packages to maintain records, manage workflow and prepare technical correspondence.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
